Pretty sure it was weakened at that point. Didn’t look like he put to much weight on it when it snapped.

I wish this rule was in effect back in 07 or 08 when I accidentally broke my putter on the 9th hole in a tournament.
It was an accident I had my foot so high off the ground when I swung my putter for the head to hit my foot after leaving a 30 ft putt 6 or 7 ft short for the 4th time that nine. Ended up putting a 90 degree angle in the shaft.

Seriously? Every golfer leans on their club like that and you never saw fatass John Daly break one.
When you swing as hard as he does, that wear and tear can easily crack a shaft, as evidenced by what he carries with him that they just reported on

okay. One of the most depressing days for a golfer when you dont have a sponsor like they do, unless it happens around your birthday or Christmas. 3 wood suffered that fate last September

He did play in the final group of the PGA last year. Also, has had a couple other decent tourneys before blowing up in the final round.
