What a trash trade by the Piratas. MLB needs to take that team away from cheap arse Bob Nutting, they don’t even try to be competitive

Meh, Bell was one of the worst players in baseball last year and can't play defense literally at all. His value isn't much.

Looks like Lemahieu is resigning with the Yanks. Kinda surprising cause there were a ton of reports the past month that the sides were nowhere close and DJ had instructed his agent to look elsewhere. Guess NYY gave in

Meh... only if you believe he will be performing at $15M per year when he's 38/39ish. I don't think so.

I bet it would have cost more to get him on a shorter deal. NYY will be desperate to get out of this deal by 2024.

I mean I’ll take my chances. He can always DH. His hitting would have to drop off remarkably for this not to be a good deal and I don’t see that happening.

He’s going to well outperform 15m a year the next few years I think. The last couple years may be bad but he’s been incredible the last two seasons and 15m is hardly breaking the bank

Agreed. My point though, is $15M per year is a steal for about 3 seasons. Then 1 season at market value. Last 2 seasons will be over-pay. So really, the Yankees are paying him market value but reducing AAV to keep room under the luxury tax.

Kind of like these baws financing a bass boat for 10 years. Yes, your monthly payment is low. But you still paid $75,000 for a bass boat.

So in the last year of the deal?

That is a hell of a deal

quote:

The talk between Corey Kluber and the Yankees has been a 1-year deal. "I'm told all he wants is a 1-year deal. He wants to go out and prove himself," source tells NJ Advance Media.

quote:

Blue Jays offered $78M for 4 years for LeMahieu, showing they meant business. Yankees had been in that ballpark for 4 as well, but the sides agreed on a longer agreement instead. Helps Yanks AAV, and thus their tax.

It's a 6 year deal.

2021
2022
2023
2024
2025
2026

It'll be an albatross of a contract halfway through.

He will be 35 halfway through
Dude isn't a power hitter and the type that ages well especially since you can't shift against him...

The last two years he may not be in the field much or at 1B but he will still have the bat.

I'd predict he is worth 5 WAR next year, 4.2, 4, 3, 1.7, 1 over the course of the deal which would be great
