Sam Darnold really wasn’t that good in college.

QB is so hard to evaluate and I’ve given up saying who will be good or not in the NFL.

That being said, I never understood the love for Tua Tagovailoa.

The Trubisky pick still blows my mind.

Everyone but the Bears knew that was outrageous.

Not first round but I remember Mel Kiper having an aneurism and was flabbergasted that Jimmy Clausen did not go in the first round.

Name a big game he won. I’ll wait

He beat undefeated top 10 Alabama in Tuscaloosa
He also won a Sugar Bowl.

That’s 2 without even thinking

ETA: He also beat a top 10 Tennessee team in Knoxville.

I generally didn't care for Clausen that much, even as a Notre Dame fan, but I think people forget how damn good he was at football in the last half of his college career. He actually did live up to his recruiting hype and maybe even then some, and I'll admit that I was and still am a bit surprised by how he didn't become really good in the NFL. Plenty of successful QB's - maybe most - are persnickety douchebags (see Aaron Rodgers).

The guy had 4 interceptions his senior year on 425 attempts, mostly behind a mediocre O line and running for his life a fair bit of the time, and if I remember correctly, 2 of those were bounces off hands of his WR's and a third was a half time hail mary. That was about as good of a quarterbacking year as you'll see in the college game. Charlie Weis was not a good head coach, but he could develop quarterbacks with the best of them.
