The federal government.
Oscar Tshiebwe ran into the same issue because he was on a student VISA. They got around it by doing endorsement work when we were on our Bahamas trip but he was pretty restricted.

An interesting wrinkle to Sasaki’s recruitment is that since he is an international player, he cannot receive an NIL deal.
This is interesting. Why?

I’m sure everyone will play by the rules to sign this kid

The kid gets deported and the school/people involved are charged federally with wire fraud.

A guy who is coming over when he is to expedite his arrival in US pro baseball is surely going to jeopardize that by participating in visa frickery for a 5 figure NIL deal.

It wouldn't be a smart move for numerous non-baseball reasons.
For baseball (the sport he plays and his future) reasons it seems like a great move since the first two picks in the draft went to LSU

Thick kid. He goes to the same school as Ohtani. I saw he was compared to Prince Fielder in one video online.
He should just choose the team that won the championship with the best hitting coach in the country. As well as put out the #1 and #2 overall picks in the draft. Simple decision.

He honestly should follow in the footsteps of the last couple of Japanese college imports and go play in the NWAC where neither the cultural nor the baseball adjustment would be nearly as extreme and be eligible for the draft after 1 year.

What does that matter when it comes to college? Also, why would a Japanese teen superstar care much about anything other than getting the best coaching before the next level? I think I'd want to play for the coach who literally just had the top 2 draft picks in the MLB. Sounds like a successful choice to me. I'd assume his ultimate goal is MLB.

I actually agree with this. College seems like a strange choice here, but I don't know his reasonings.

If he goes in the NPB draft he wouldn't really be eligible to play in the states for like another 6 or 8 years or something like that. Plus a discounted international pay rate when he comes over if he comes over "early".
This is the quickest way for him to get into US pro baseball, and maximize earnings.

There have to be tons of Japanese kids at LSU I would think

Oregon already has a Japanese high school player on its team and he uses a wood bat because it’s what he was used to using growing up in Japan.
