Which do you think is more likely? I’d have to say 16 seed. If jmu beat Oregon it would be the most stunning result I’ve ever seen in college football given the stage

Oregon will beat JMU by 35. Easiest bet of the season imo

I watched FCS App State defeat #5 Michigan, and it wasn't a fluke.

I watched UAB and ULM defeat Saban coached teams.

I watched Vanderbilt defeat #1 Alabama.

I've seen Mississippi State ranked #1 in the country for multiple weeks in a row.

I watched Northern Illinois defeat a Notre Dame team that played in the NC game.

I say all that to illustrate that nothing is impossible in college football.

A 16 seed has only beaten a 1 seed two times in 40 years

JMU has a better chance. Especially if they come into the game with the mentality that they are going to lay the wood all night against a West Coast 'finesse' team.

Having said all that: I've never seen ULL score a Touchdown on LSU.

UMBC was around 25 to 1 to beat Virginia, JMU is only 12 to 1 to beat Oregon

16 seeds are 2-150 all time against 1 seeds in the tournament. 1 seeds are top five teams in basketball. 16 seeds might not be considered a top 100 team in basketball when considering automatic bids.

G5 teams, lower ranked FBS teams upset ranked teams all the time in football. As mentioned, App St over Michigan. Boise State over Oklahoma is another.

Odds are extremely low JMU wins, but it’s greater than 1.3%.

Unfortunately "the stage" hasn't really been open to the lower level schools until the past 2 seasons. Sure they've had the BCS game (Boise, Tulane, etc winning those games from time to time) but finally now they can truly compete for a title like every one else. And unlike March Madness you'll see them upset higher ranked teams more often.

Probably not the game in question though lol

Last time LSU played Tulane, ESPN flashed an interesting stat at the beginning of the game. The stat was this: Number of players on the roster who can bench 400 pounds. LSU: 44 Tulane: 5.

If that doesn't put into perspective the gap in some of these programs I don't know what does.

That was also nearly 20 years ago, college football isn't the same anymore with the portal. Not saying there isnt a talent gap but it's not what it used to be. I mean Tulanes QB would be starter for a P4 school this year if it weren't for mormon code or conduct. As the poster mentioned above strange things can happen on a football field if the right team shows up.

You watched App State beat a wildly overrated preseason #5 Michigan team that would go on to an 8-4 season in a terribly weak big ten.

Oregon played Iowa and Indiana who are extremely physical, especially up front, and exchanged blows all game. This isn’t a pure finesse team, they’re a top 10 D and have a physical run game.

Probably a little fairer to make this a 15/2 or 14/3 situation.

If Oregon comes ready to play and doesn’t take this game lightly, it won’t be close.

JMU beating Oregon is way more likely than a 16 seed beating a 1 seed.

FDU against Purdue was +2000 odds when they won.

And yes I bet on it. $25 turned into $500
