Tough call. Like right in between getting a rebound on an airball and goaltending. Sucks to get rewarded for an airball though

Looked under the rim to me, can't goaltend an airball. UCLA gets bailed on one of the worst shot selections ever.

The guy that touched it had a perfect line on it. Common sense tells you a guy wouldn't interfere like that unless he could tell it was a clear airball. The very slow motion replay seems to support that.

Also a couple of plays earlier a UCLA player fell down and slid on the floor before throwing the ball to a teammate, then a questionable foul ensued. Shouldn't that have been a travel?

That was a bad call. That ball was going to be an air ball.
You can only snatch the ball out of the air when the ball is on the way down if it is obviously not going to hit the rim.
Therefore, it was the right call in this case.

The rule is that if it is going to hit the rim, you have to let it hit the rim. The referee in this case judged that the ball was going to hit the rim, so that is why he called goaltending. If you know for certain that that ball was not going to hit the rim, you have better eyes than I do.
