So they say. If bloggers could figure out what happened relatively quickly then so should the lords of golf. They are providing cover.

I think it's honest and very reasonable to see that there is no competitive advantage on a 130 yard shot vs. 130 yard and 2 feet shot.
130 yard and 135 yard - sure.

But if they say something maybe he realizes he interrupted the rules wrong and fixes his mistake. Instead he went on thinking what he did was correct.

That's problematic.
Has he had an issue before for them not to give him the benefit of the doubt?
I'm not defending Tiger here, I still think he is in the wrong, I'm just going on what that statement said.

I really hope Woods storms back after getting anally reamed by a flagstick on a perfect shot and the ensuing outrage from tigerdroppings.
I hope he shoots consecutive 64's and then goes on to win the Grand Slam

You're not making any sense.

He's the one that said it was advantage by saying he backed up to not hit the flag stick again.

Jimi, I think I know what you're doing.
I kind of like it.

I disagree, it's documented in this thread as to why. Feel free to research.

Except as Faldo said - you back up to avoid the divot.
When you have to drop it as "near as possible" - he says - "I've had the ball roll back into the original divot." So if you are purposefully dropping further behind, you are purposefully trying to avoid a bad lie.

Tiger has been known as the greatest rules knower in golf. Why hasn't that been brought up?
