Same situation here.

Down only 1.6% because I have a lot of dividend stocks. Still a hell of a lot of money, and quite unnerving, though!

Head rests well on pillow at night. Packed years of retirement expenses into safe places for sequence of returns risk mitigation and dry powder included (too many / plan is to glide path to longer term allocation thru first few years of Roth conversions).

Even so, my 24yo me could not have imagined what we lost Friday, as future retired me, and we would still sleep like a rock.

SP is up 7.8% ytd and it's only June. People going to be ready to jump out of buildings if the market goes back to B/E.

Went to a friend's family gathering today and nonstop chatter from people who aren't even 50 about how much money they lost on Friday.

The drop didn’t faze me too much because (a) we’ve been through this a million times before and (b) I’m not too heavily invested in a/i, however I am irked that I had a decent amount of cash on the sidelines and I put most of it in on Thursday.

Same. Have my son who is in college and has a few $ in market…testing to see if he can stomach loss. He can. He gets the big picture / money’s purpose / long term game if it all.

My observation of investing human psychology (including me!) in ups & downs:

Appreciation for the rise in portfolio value that “came out of thin air” (the margin over Benjamin Graham fundamentals) is fun but erodes quickly…when same value turns to dust.

It’s as if: “It was mine (and real). Now it’s gone!” Pain. What is perceived as real is ephemeral.

Learned long ago that money, unlike food & water, is a dissatisfier. Water quenches thirst, and thirst does away.

However, money begets want of more. It also accelerates the speed of erosion of appreciation of what is real.

Stay your financial plan’s course! Money’s real purpose. Win the long run! …is antidote for short term pain.

I lost 19.44 percent in my Roth and around 15% in brokerage.
I’ll make sure to post what the recovery looks like.

33% cash going into Friday, bought back a portion Friday afternoon. Might be more buying opportunities in the next couple of weeks.

Rough

If interest rates stay at or increase from these levels and oil doesnt come down, it could be hard for equities going forward

The tech sector especially needs lower rates

The rebound will be nice, but I expect it to get worse before it gets better

Curious thinking…decision to 33% cash (presumably for dry powder) and quick trigger same day use.

What indicators told you to dry powder, and what indicators told you to use dry powder so quickly?

I have been taking profits. I have been swinging AI and Quantum. I only bought back in about 6% of my cash, 2 quantum stocks that were hit 15% or so. Also added a little NBIS at a discount.

Which exchange?
I grabbed 10 at 219.22 Friday. Was hoping for a sale again this week.
