I’ve become a little unimpressed with my current credit union and am considering switching. Who do you bank with and what are the pros and cons?

Campus Federal Lagniappe for a smaller bank account. 2.31 percent up to 10k. App works fine. 1 auto withdrawal, paperless, and 15 debits a month is only criteria. The rest is invested elsewhere.

Capital One. Very satisfied all around. Feel like my accounts are secure and being watched.

I don’t need physical banks so I handle everything via mobile and online. It’s been good for me the last 5+ years.

United Community Bank, based in Raceland with offices in Lafourche Parish, Houma, Praireville, Baton Rouge, and Gonzales.

Free checking,

Once you do 15 Debit transactions:

4% interest on checking up to 25,000,
free ATM withdrawals at any ATM, reimbursement for ATM fees up to 20 dollars per month (these 2 have been nice especially at the casino, where ATM fees are pretty high)

They are also part of a network called Community Cash where they share a local network of ATMs in the gulf south where you can use another banks ATM and not get hit with foreign bank fees. I have used this a lot to to avoid ATM fees.

I use Capital one and Chase. Love Capital one, but since I moved, they don’t have one nearby. Chase is all over.

I use Fidelity. They are my one stop shop for almost everything financial: checking, online billpay, direct deposit, atm (unlimited fee reimbursement), and primary credit card (unlimited 2% cash back). This is in addition to my investment accounts.

I keep my old ING/Capital One account specifically for Venmo, Zelle, and PayPal.

Was with Hibernia, which was bought by Capital One. I like Cap One. They are closing a lot of branches and going more machine and online, so avoid them if in person service is important for you.

I seldom go in one. The online and app are good. They allow you to easily set up Money Market and online CDs at good rates, often among the higher in the country. I have CDs at 2.3 and MM at (I think) 1.8%.

You can log on to one account and see checking, MM, CDs, and credit cards. Their Savor mastercard has a $95 annual fee after a year, but it pays 4% cash back for dining and concert tickets, 2% groceries, and 1% for other. Quicksilver VISA is 1.5% on everything.

Capital one and Chase

Two nice large big banks. Actually have accounts with both, In addition to my United Community bank accounts. One issue is that Chase and Capital One do not have branches in Mississippi. The other issue is the disappearing branches. Chase had a branch that could walk to, but they closed it a few years ago. Capital One too has been disappearing like crazy.

A) Always bank local

B) And with an actual bank, not a credit union. You are aware credit unions are “non profit” and pay ZERO taxes, right?

Cap One for checking and savings. I've used 5th District for loans and CDs.
