Where it is then taxed. The anti-credit union rhetoric tries to lead us to believe there aren't taxes paid on the CU earnings.

Well, nowadays most CUs don't even do that...They just reinvest in their growth and "use it" to offer lower rates and better dividends....

I was with ING Direct for many years till they were bought out by Capital One.

I now do my primary banking/bill pay with Fidelity and their Cash Management account. Fidelity already has all my investments outside 401k. Fidelity's website, service, and apps are all top notch and they have branches if I need them. Their atm card reimburses fees too which is very nice.

Also, I do keep a SunTrust account for a safety deposit box.

WTF? I'm supposed to support some slacker who calls himself a banker out of the goodness of my heart? I pay for value; it's pretty simple, actually.

Regions. I've had them since I first opened an account in High School. I have my business account with them as well. I'm not crazy about them.

Barclays. Good savings account rates.

1. I'm dissapointed everyone is naming an institution and not a person. Does no one have a banker they work with and have followed to a few different banks b/c of loyalty and relationship?

Any bank can handle my checking account. Saving is going into money market online. Loans will be make from whichever institution can give me the best interest rate. I can't name one person that works at any bank I use.

2. Lots of credit unions being repped on this board. Does it not bother anyone they are "non profit" and pay no taxes?

It does not bother me at all

Eta: I bank with capital one because they bought out hibernia who was the closest to my apt before direct deposit and mobile deposit.

Wrong with America? Every bank out there would put their competitors out of business if they could and it would help their profitability. Every business is that way. People bitch about WalMart putting "regular" grocery stores out of business. Guess what, it's what the Winn-Dixies and Krogers did to the smaller local places before. I'll argue that's what America got right.

Iberiabank, because I have had an account there since I was 8. St. Martin Bank because of reward checking and savings. 3.6 APY on checking up to $10K and 1.26 APY on savings up to $15K. When I initially signed up with St. Martin the limits were $25K in checking and $50K in savings with higher APY as well.

Not sure where the other banks stand on this, but WF outwardly supports something that runs counter to my philosophical and religious beliefs. I'd never bank there for that reason alone. LINK

If you truly researched all the companies you do business with and didn't use any that were philosophically different, you'd essentially be down to hobby lobby and chick-fil-a.

I don't make economic choices based off of my political/social beliefs.

And there's no question that they condone "it" - so much so that they've included it in their advertising budget to harvest new accounts. Flawed logic.

It's just PR. Wells Fargo isn't really supporting anything. They just want more deposits.

I agree. Most companies don't really have a social conscience they just make a business decision which demographic/special interest/whatever to pander to.
