Hey all -

In laws have given us $100K for a down payment on a house. Need it to be generally available for when we find the new house for the down payment, but do not want it sitting there generating nil.

Any advice on something that will grow at no risk that I can also withdraw in a day or two notice with no penalty?

How long is short term?

Just collect the half a percent these banks are offering. Not much else you can do.

Exciting, I know.

Citibank is offering .9% APY right now. That's the highest I've seen.

If I were single I sure as heck wouldn’t. Sounds like an entitled individual getting 100k from an enabler.

Bookmarked,

I am also interested in a high-return no risk vehicle to park my money.

Take 50K to casino and park it on red. Worst case is you still have 50K free money.

Think I'd be worried about the strings attached for accepting that much money as a gift...

There is no free lunch.

Any equity investment could lose money in a short time frame.

Unfortunately Treasury bills and CDs don’t pay much, but you need that money by a date certain so you can’t take on market risk.

Enjoy the house.
