Oxy with a near 20% yield lol. Guessing that’s sure to be cut before the next payout.

No guarantee going forward, but maintaining the dividend is important to companies like Exxon

I'm not saying dividends are safe, but you realize they're paying out the same dollar amount per share no matter what the yield is, right?
If they can cash flow their dividends, nobody will cut them immediately

Yup. Tier 1 breaker hit. 15 min pause, then let the panic selling resume to 13%, then 20%. At 20% it would be off for the day.

But so true. We just don’t have any patience anymore. frick it. Get the crash over with.

Interesting. I wonder what their play is.
I think their play is to exert maximum pressure on the fracking/shale industry here and drive it out of business.

this, and I have heard/read a couple folks at least loosely associated with ARAMCO stating their main goal is to "protect their market share and increase demand along with supply"
the first part, I almost can see their point, flood the market while there is pain and take out some future CapX and competition
Not that I like it, but I suppose I can see the point

I think it is that and to do as much harm to Russia as possible because they refused to cut production. I think this is short term because Saudi's need oil revenue also but who knows how much pain they are willing to take.

Pardon any ignorance here as I am young and do not have much stock experience, but would now be a good time investing in a stock such as XOM seeing it is at a 5yr low at the moment?

I have a serious question that maybe some of you might be able to answer.
I am recently retired and my wife is a RN. We have no real debt and have plenty of liquidity.
My wife's family is 2-3 months away from potentially selling 1280 acres right next to Odessa, TX. They just paid $40,000 for a land plan, LCA, appraisal, etc. Obviously this is not the best time to sell.
Sell it anyway and reinvest in real estate elsewhere or hold on to it?

They are 50% owner of the largest oil refinery in North America. We should just take over their part and tell them to fck off.
