Because timing both the exit and re-entry is a tall order.
Also, if you're likely to get out because things are looking spooky you're also likely to stay out because "we haven't hit the bottom yet."

And even if it works out for you this time, you will want to try to do it again in three years. And eventually you'll get bit.

There's people from Dec 19 and Mar 20 who are still on the sidelines because they missed the upswing and are waiting for a pullback to get in.

I guess I coulda taken my money out 3 weeks ago and saved a shite ton but I woulda wash saled it and “bought the dip” that kept dipping like 2 days later

I mean I think I probably took a screenshot or something that day so all isn’t lost

I doubt I would’ve done anything with the money besides lose it in the stock market and pay taxes and I’m still on course to do that

Take it from a permabear pro - this will 100% happen.

I got a taste for several years and was lucky it worked out because Q1 2020 erased most of those gains.

Well today I took a 145k dollar haircut. Yes you read that right a $145,000.00 anal penetration without the courtesy of any vasoline.

All this to say I'm pulling out of the market for a few weeks until I can see how far down the market drops.

Wait, so you're saying you took $145,000 of unrealized losses and made them real?
Seems like you've got the whole "buy low, sell high" thing backwards.

This kind of market is exactly why I have 75% of my holdings in total market fund and 100% of retirement funds in s&p funds. I won’t try to cherry pick stocks and beat the market over a long term horizon so I go with the averages and sit back.

Y’all talk about saving for retirement but I think most millennials don’t really plan on retirement since by the time we get there “retirement” will be getting made into glue product or some kind of food stuff

I like to end green on a Friday because sometimes I’ll show it to chicks at the bar and they’ll be like wow you made 3000 bucks in one day which is kinda measly but it beats a big red number

Chicks are dumb. Just take a screenshot of a really good day.

Maybe I’ll print out the good screenshots so I’ll have something to put on the wall above my bunk in the fema camp in a few months

This is hilarious but there is a lot of truth here

We're trying to get while the gettin' is good because the alternative is bleak regardless

If I stay in this bath any longer, I'm dropping in the toaster.

Y'all should pray that the Treasury auctions go well next week

I don't know if they've announced the coupon but higher rates could become attractive.
