that board is a cesspool. i refuse to post there. stop comparing that trash to this board. how insulting.
now we see why you so mad. you not in the top 10% here.
run back to the OT.
ETA: just confirmed your post history. you live on the cesspool. thus your comments.

I have been very fortunate. My retirement accounts are about 10% of my net worth. Most of my net worth is in investment properties. Fat bastard's guide and advice were huge in helping me build my real estate portfolio. I'd attribute ~70 to 80% of my success to reading threads/posts on here over the years.
This board is full of outliers. We happen to not spend much, save a ton, and I own multiple businesses that all do well.
I tend to believe most people on MT.

What was your very first property?
Do you mind sharing how things exploded from there?

not with the detail posters have laid out here.
posters are trying to help others make money.

46 here with 1.7m in 401k and Roth. I think I’ll retire at 55, but I’ll have to figure out Insurance to get me to Medicare.
I’ve been putting up near the max for the past 15 or so years. Get a 10% company match which helped build it up. Also moved a lot of my money into Fidelity growth fund which really took off after COVID.

I might just stay around and sweep the floors at my work. I only pay $132 a month for medical, dental and vision per month for me.

I have zero in retirement, but own 3 businesses.
I’m selling one later this year/early next.
Growing a restaurant group in the UK.
My small hvac company is in our third year, and we’re up 200% this year.
Going to get back into insurance, and hope to open a couple small brokerages across the southeast (OK, AR, TN, AL, FL) over the next 13 years, when I hit 55.
Hope to have exit strategies for $10mil and recurring income of six figures for rest of life.
Bartend in the keys in the winter/UK in the summer when I hit 60, as both kids will be “out the house”.

You’re literally just buying businesses and running them??

I’m not too anonymous on here.

No. I’ve never bought a business. Started five, with one successful exit thus far. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, my next exit will be unsuccessful (lost a couple hundred k).

How viable/"easy" is it to buy/maintain domestic and international vacation homes that you rent out all but one or two weeks a year?
Is it reasonable to hold 2, 3 or 4 across NA,SA and Europe and pay for all/most of the expenses via rental income when I'm not using it? Is there a significant amount of management involved so that you're really putting in work for that "free" vacation home? Is it a bitch dealing with things as an American owning property abroad? Do you feel like you get taxed as an american by the locals?
Maybe this should be its own thread.

47 now with about $350K in 401(k). Initial plan was to work to 67 and the 401(k) should theoretically be about $3MM.
A couple other factors will probably cut that work short, but I like working so maybe I’ll make it to 67. Just may play golf a lot more while I piddle at the office.
My wife will inherit low 8 figures probably sooner rather than later and my brokerage account will help too. Also diversifying into Kansas farmland, so we’ll see how it all goes and turns out.
I love to insight this board gives and the real stories (successes and failures). Keep it up!
