Gonna have to be used. They've dropped the v6 (and the 2.0 turbo). All 1.5 liter turbo fours.

These are not your mothers' Accords.

Still not a bad choice.

With an hour commute, I would get a used Lexus ES. Quiet, comfortable, and will last 200k miles.

Get a truck, you'll be happier.

Not necessarily true.

Not for me, for sure.

I personally prefer an SUV over a car or truck. Although not all at the same time, we have hauled 8' 2x4 boards, 10' PVC pipe, an 8' step ladder, 12 bags of Pine bark mulch, and 4 large bales of pine straw on different occasions in our 2015 Subaru Outback. You can't do that in a sedan. We can carry lots of stuff protected from the rain with the back seats down. Not as easy to do that in a truck. We do all of this and get in the mid twenties to low thirties in mpg. We live on a typically rutted out gravel road and drive our Outback across fields and go places our Acura TL sedan cannot or has a rougher ride compared to our Outback. Our 4 cylinder Outback can only tow 1500 lbs, but the new turbo 4 cylinder can tow 3500 lbs.

We also like Hondas and Toyotas and are currently waiting on the 2024 Honda Passports to come out to potentially replace our Acura TL.

The Honda Passport can tow 5000 lbs if you need a lot of towing capacity. The Toyota 4Runner is a good choice for off road capabilities.

To each their own, but I prefer the extra utility of the SUV. We can tow a small trailer if we need the capability to carry larger items which would be infrequent enough for us to prefer a truck over an SUV.

For daily interstate travel (100 miles or so), would a 4 cylinder Honda Accord be a wise decision or would 6 cylinder be a better option?

I'm thinking more about the longevity of the vehicle driving at higher speeds and putting more strain on the motor.

I don't even think Honda makes an Accord with a V6 anymore so you'd have to go used. My wife has a 2024 though and it's pretty peppy.

The non hybrid gets about 35 mpg on the highway. The hybrid gets something stupid but costs more.

The hybrid I'm looking at gets 46/41. 32k

Looking to get a car for this I-49 travel as opposed to driving a full sized vehicle that gets 18mpg.

My wife has the turbo 4 cylinder. I've driven it a few times and it has plenty of power for a family sedan.

I guess all manufacturers are going to smaller turbo engines these days.

I don’t know much about them but Ford Maverick is around $30k new. Hybrid gets 42 city/33 hwy.

Too small for me but just throwing it out there.

Yes and it will move towards 4 cylinder hybrids over the next 3-5 years.

Straight electric aren’t catching on but hybrids are.

<——bought 3 new Honda Accords 4 cylinder sedans for each of my kids in their Junior years of college over the past 12 years.

Zero problems with any of the three, all were kept by each of my kids to over 100k miles. (A ‘14 MY & a ‘17 MY are still in service)

I would personally avoid the hybrid option if you plan on keeping it over 5 or 6 years, it is more complicated than a ICE-only engine, not enough juice for the squeeze for me.

Potentially you could hand that car down to a kid too, down the road.

Good luck.

Get a mid-size SUV based on a unibody platform. You will be able to haul stuff from home depot much more than you could from a sedan. It seems like you are concerned that you need a truck when in reality you will rarely use the utility purpose of it, but are afraid that one day you will need it.

Mid-size SUV is better for family trips. You can put a cargo box on the roof or a cargo carrier in the hitch for more space. It gives you greater utility than a car. You could also pull a utility trailer to home depot as well.

Minivan is a good option too, but it suffers from an image problem. If you can overlook that, it is probably the best choice.

I drove sedans growing up. I did not like them. I have only had SUV's since.
