If the past couple of weeks are any indication there’s no point in even looking until 3:30.

If the refs weren’t making such shite calls I would have more than 200 shares.

I may be headed to Earl's Hideaway Lounge and Tiki Bar myself...

It's not as nice as it sounds but far better than my wife thinks it is...

rookie question for the options pros. I dabbled 2 weeks ago in my first long call (1 ) Sep 26 $100. With that being a month away and in danger of expiring worthless, should I just eat the loss now or wait a few more days to see if I can get lucky?

Well, you have another week for this to go up $5-6....what did you pay for the contract? Like the per share price?

you could try to time it for 0DTE but theta decay is going to eat it.

If you bought it 2 weeks ago (anything before last Tuesday), that thing should be worth a shite ton of money.

ETA: unless I'm misunderstanding something?

Use what's left of it to roll it out and up to 10/17 $110.

You would be receiving the difference in cash or paying the difference in cash, depending on the value of the option.

Double ETA:

Well maybe not worth a shite ton. But if purchased when the stock was about $65/share. I wouldn't think it would be that far in the red? But it does look like the decay may have gotten it. Should've sold last Tuesday.

I'm far from an expert though.

Something is not adding up.

I'm guessing you bought it last week, and not two weeks ago.

Regardless, the question is the same: 9/26 expiration date and a strike price of $100.

I'll let some of they resident experts chime in. I would also ask that folks talk in plain English because not everyone understands the lingo... Puts, calls, strike price, ITM, OTM, the Greeks, etc.

ETA: If you did buy it two weeks ago, then it probably didn't cost much, as I doubt many people were predicting the stock to go up $35 in 3 weeks.

It's worth 3.50
He has $350 to roll out. Plenty to work with.
I would roll to a 10/17 $120 and you'll actually collect around $85 cash (and you'll buy yourself more time).

So at the time of this response - it trades for $3.40.

You can sell now for around that or if you want to let it ride I would suggest what Bayou said which would be to sell now, and then buy 10/17 options. For break even pricing (ie what it would take to buy that one less what you got for this equalling zero) is probably around the $115 mark.

Generally you are not going to want to actually hold the option to exercise next week.

But some of us, day trade these where we buy and sell in a day to capture daily appreciation so really depends on your goals
