Also, I just want to say that there's no harm in asking questions like this DC.

I am a novice at best in options trading. I don't FULLY understand 100% of the metrics behind all of it. I have a VERY basic understanding of theta decay.

The way I learned what little I do know is by doing exactly what you did. I read for months, watched TONS of YouTube videos, and did as much research as I could on options trading before I ever actually did it. I learned a lot more when I finally did it myself.

It's an extremely intimidating and scary thing to do.

So don't feel dumb for asking these types of questions.

Agree 100%, but I would also like to add....if I knew the answer to DC's question on when I should sell my calls, I'd be a billionaire

So I psyched myself out today and chased the way up with some options - I had been discliplined for the past week in not doing that and buying on dips.

I got headfaked that todays move was to a new short term range - ooops

I did that last week. I sold a few Nov $110 calls at the top today. I chased a little too hard on them last week and overbought, so I barely made anything on them. But green is green. Just wanted to get out from under them so maybe I can make a smarter play back at them at a lower price point.

I held onto my November $90 call I bought on Monday when the shares hit around $88.

What happened? Was it Microsoft investing 10s of billions in its own AI infrastructure?

its not that hard to google the terms. he should probably do a little more research before jumping into options which you can loose your arse on if not done right.

others are telling him to roll it into another option....he probably doesnt know how to do that either

Not the 3:30 result I was hoping for either. I’m at a freaking conference so limited time to check.

We’re all rooting for FOMO Friday.

I'm guessing you bought it last week, and not two weeks ago.

sorry yes early last week after the initial spike, was hoping it would quickly jump above $100 but it never did

You can sell now for around that or if you want to let it ride I would suggest what Bayou said which would be to sell now, and then buy 10/17 options. For break even pricing (ie what it would take to buy that one less what you got for this equalling zero) is probably around the $115 mark.

thanks for the input guys

I give up - I fail at posting images.

But yes - blame Squatch. Completely agree.

worst part is I did all this in college (investment finance, black shoales, etc) but never used it in real life 20 years later so I know enough to be dangerous and in this case...too dangerous
