imo if myspace could fail after newer platforms come out, all other forms of social media can do the same, it's all about the next big thing that draws the crowds, the past 5 years it's been mostly about chinese tiktok unfortunately

Sure. Apple is nothing like META or GOOG though. These are mostly online advertising businesses. AAPL is still mostly a hardware and software company.

iphone is dead bro. They can't do anything new to be like dang ima go buy the new iphone. Nowadays people just replace them when they wear out but they fixed all the stuff that breaks on them to where they don't really wear out anymore
Most of the laptops that get sold are those little janky 300 dollar laptops they give to kids in school so I don't see the computer market share growing
and like ipads and stuff who even uses those
all of these things they make respectable money on but the stock is priced for growth growth growth and I don't see where they get that from in the future. It's not gonna be the 3rd world, the chinese have that covered

Here’s the thing, there are millions of people in the US that are hardwired to invest in emergent technologies. When there is an element of mystery surrounding the technology and a particular company that has the perception of having an edge over others, that’s when investors jump in and pump the forward pe of these stocks through the roof. We also know that investors don’t want to miss out on a rally and are quick to jump in when something begins to move due to a fad or some sort of spike of interest from the general public.
So in the case of meta, let’s use some creativity: What if professional and college sports came up with an advanced camera system that allowed FB to exclusively cast first person POV VR video to Quest users and you could watch the games virtually from any angle and feel like you’re on the field. What would happen to quest sales and meta stock?
And if this is the future of videography, then how many industries follow suit? How much more advertising money gets pumped in? It isn’t that hard to perceive virtual theaters would soon emerge with the ability to feel like you’re inside the movie. I think this is probably where the future is headed and meta is probably in the best position to capitalize although apple is coming up with a VR system as well I hear.

This is already happening at a small scale, right now. It’s being tested by Meta employees, and employees of my company. Supposedly it is legit…

Honestly I hate the POV porn. Can’t imagine I’d want to watch sports that way.

I also think VR classrooms will make a big push as there’s an appeal to not subjecting your children to school shootings, bullying, TikTok fights, political agendas, etc.

Definitely would be cool for big moments.
Wanna see what it was like to make the big run or catch in the super bowl as if you're the player who did it?
NBA players gonna all look like Horace Grant so the camera has a mount

I’m not sure how the stick & ball sports would pull POV off. Maybe football… possibly hockey? F1 is the most technologically advanced sport on the planet. But when it comes to the TV production, it’s still stuck in the 90s in most respects. So I’d love to see a (true) POV from the racers and even the pit crew.
But given how F1 still drags its feet, I’d say NASCAR or IndyCar (now that Penske owns it) will come up with it first.
I’d at least be willing to give it a try.

Would be cool the first time or three. Then I would revert back to watching games with friends/family like normal.

I don’t know if y’all ever done vr but it’s super uncomfortable
Rather than being like an immersive experience when you’re alone you get this creeping feeling that someone else is in the house the whole time
Idk bruh y’all like Romans thinking that now we got concrete we’re finna build towers to the heavens but really we’re hopelessly mired in political corruption and diversity and we gonna get hun’d and Visigoth’d and dark age after that

It's really strange to watch.
If Covid taught us anything it's that people yearn to be with other people and want to put technology down whenever they can. For some reason he thinks the exact opposite.

While I think the whole metaverse is insane and a disaster, your read on the pandemic is the opposite of reality.

Seems like a pretty solid business. Add on their subscription software service and they print money nonstop. And probably working on something you have no idea you even want to buy yet.

Meta is so tempting here but got to admit, I was tempted when it was $150.
