Hi Everyone!

I am new to the program and curious if anyone has any feedback on my course pairings (I did spend the last two hours reading the thread and researching instructors):

AP1
ACCT 701 w/ Ambrosio
MADM 701 w/ Knotts (per everyone's suggestions)

AP2
ISDS 705 w/Gibbs
MADM 715 w/Wren

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I wanted to make the leap over to Knotts for MADM 701 along with everyone but I'm seeing this:

This section is for MSCST students, EDD students, and for MBAs who began their program prior to
January of 2014.

I know this isn't the proper thread but I've learned to respect the advice here. Just wondering if any of you have experience with or could recommend an online CPA exam review course.

Does completing an MBA program meet the requirements to sit for a CPA designation?

Watch out for the 1C section, that's not for (most) MBA students. You want the AP1 sections.

It varies by state Multis10 but completion of the an MBA alone doesn't qualify you. To sit for the exam in LA you need a bachelor's degree, 24 hours accounting classes, 24 hours business classes, and 150 hours of college credit. Prior to the program I had everything but the 150 hrs.

@samthelibrarian

Your AP1 schedule looks manageable.

Your AP2 schedule doesn't look bad. Keep in mind that ISDS 705 is the easiest class in the program. You may want to save that to pair with a harder class. Just my two cents.

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has feedback about the classes/professors Str. MGMT of Human Capital w/Kunga and International Marketing with Aadel Darrat?

I want to pick up an elective to pair with Fin701(vines) and feeling a bit stumped with my options. Was kinda hoping Meeks would pick up another elective, wishful thinking lol

Unlikely unless you focus in accounting. CPA requirements vary by state but generally require 150 credits and ~30 hours of accounting. Some states require general business classes too (about 30 credits) but those aren’t the issue for MBA grads.

The ~30 credits of accounting is more than most people take.

You need to take at a minimum (to be prepared for the exam)
Financial accounting
Managerial accounting
Intermediate accounting 1 & 2
Advanced accounting
Government and not for profit accounting
Federal / Corporate Tax
Auditing

Those classes basically get you to the credit minimums for accounting and give the foundation to begin studying for the CPA exam.

Worth noting, I was surprised at how much government and NFP accounting is tested on the exam. I recall 20-30% of FAR being NFP related questions. I never would have passed without taking that class because it is very different from typical financial accounting.

It looks like Mary White is teaching ECON 705 for AP2. She has bad ratings on Rate My Professors. :( I need to take this class during AP2. I wonder why Shaughnessy isn't teaching it again?

ECON705: He is teaching it AP2. It is currently full. They've opened an additional section.

I'm not seeing that, my friend. I'm looking at Spring AP2. He's listed on only one class but it says:
This class is not for MBA students admitted after Jan 2014.
