Hello all,
Just finished registering for this term (my first). Part of the reason I picked LSUS is because of this forum. It is such a good resource for preparing to take the courses.
I am going to take FIN730 (Choi) and ISDS705 (Lin). Does anyone see this as an issue? From what I have read, ISDS705 is the course to double up with if any. I am in the Finance concentration.
Also, if anyone has any of the textbook PDFs, could you please forward them to me at comecheckthis1@gmail.com
Looking forward to getting through this program with everyone!

@DieDaily - Thanks for the feedback
@Cin8 - Thanks for the link. I think I'm going to skip the pre-reqs, so I need to brush up on things outside of class.
@zdt - Sounds like we have similar backgrounds. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you brentb71 for your explanation! I just finished the ACCT test. I don't know how to feel about it until I see my grade. However, I do feel like I did better with the extra time allowed.
On another note, does anyone have any thoughts about the Finance 701 exam? I am taking it tomorrow.

I feel like every module, I have zero idea how to do the practice problems until I look at the solutions and work backwards to figure out how to find them. His reading guides can be so vague and not always descriptive enough to really understand the meaning of a formula and its parts. I was able to self-teach ECON problems, but I wouldn't have survived this FIN class without the zoom sessions and Vines' explanations (of his own words). I'll be taking the final exam tomorrow as well.

Just finished FIN701 exam! Now on to ISDS705
For the first time I had almost all qualitative problems. Just 1 quantitative. My other exams have been 50/50 or 60/40 skewed to more quantitative. Guess its the luck of the draw. This is the first exam I had time left to look back. The problem however was 4 parts just like his practice 1-4 and the problem in the book. Basically no surprises. Make sure you know the reasoning behind everything as always.

Just booked flights for me and the family for graduation in December. I'm ready to start FIN 730 and "git 'er done!"

socal- my man
Same on my end! Good luck w/ 730; you'll be done in no time.
Jeaux- much appreciated! Same to you; how much do you have left?
Astro- You'll be there before you know it. Keep the persistence up.
Jason-
Lean on the good people in this thread. They won't steer you wrong. I recommend going back through the many pages of this thread as they contain numerous amounts of knowledge and insight on various classes and the professors that teach them.

I'm halfway through as of last night. Finished up MKT and ACCT this term. Taking ISDS next and then starting on the Data Analytics courses in the Spring so I'll finish Summer AP1. Planned on finishing Spring AP2 but decided to go for this specialization and one of the courses isn't offered until Summer AP1. One more term can't hurt!

Jeaux, have you received any feedback on isds 702 & 710.
I was interested in taking both but do not know anything about them.
Just started the program this semester with ACCT.

I have read some things about ISDS 702 that students in ACCT posted on the forum and supposedly it's not too bad. This is what someone said about ISDS 702:
I believe ISDS 710 is a new course offering so it's an unknown. I plan on taking it solo so I can focus primarily on it just to be safe

I took Dr. Fazel Hayati. He was great! His class was composed of reading in the text book, working practice problems, and Zoom sessions which were super informative! His grading is based on 4 tests (final was comprehensive) and they are all timed. I would highly recommend.

Thanks for the feedback.
I plan on doing the same with 710 taking it solo.
The topic interests me.

I'm thinking finance right now. I looked at Project Management, but did I see an internship in there?? How would that work for online students? I have not taken the time to research it. Still working on core courses.

The new professor for FIN 730, Dr. Choi, still hasn't posted anything on Moodle for the class. I'm used to other professors having the classes loaded in Moodle weeks or months before the class starts. I'm guessing since he's new he's taking his time to build it into Moodle.
The other thing I'm curious about is that the class schedule for FIN 730 lists a textbook to purchase. I had thought all classes had already gone to free textbooks. Maybe it's getting phased in over time.

Jeaux, congratulations! ISDS wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I found it to be extremely interesting. If you have Dr. Hayati, you'll thoroughly enjoy him. Not at all man, go after what you want!

socal, FWIW, in 701, Dr. Vines used a hard text this session. I understand from the college's perspective on why the push for e-books, however, I still prefer that hard copy. Just something about it.

I know that everyone talks about how easy ISDS705 is but was wondering about work load. After reading module 1 which is already posted there looks to be a lot of busy work. I realize none of it is graded but I am assuming you should do all work to be prepared for the test. Is the class as time consuming as it seems its going to be. I was looking forward to a break after ECON705 and FIN701
