I took FIN701 exam 2 last night and just like the first i finished with seconds on the clock. I have no time to go back and check work. I had 7 qualitative and 3 quantitative questions. One was BSOPM.
I have a word document set up with all formulas and parameters so i can copy and past real quick into the exam window. Then i add my parameter values and work the problem. He gives partial credit so i want to make sure i provide the formula and parameter values so he sees i know what im doing in case i make a mistake calculating.

Yeah my exam had a similar composition of questions. I don't have a file with the calculations, but I am starting to see the need for one since the calculations are getting more involved. Thanks for the tip and I hope you did well on Module 2. Finishing up that close to the wire always makes me nervous.

I just finished FIN701 exam 2 in less than 30 mins. I got timed out on exam 1 and couldn't answer the last question, but I like the math way more than qualitative, so I was STOKED to see so many!

Nice work. I have some serious studying to do tonight before I attempt it either later this evening or in the morning.
As for ACCT, putting that off for a couple days until I hear some feedback from the group. Haven't even looked at practice problems or anything.

Does anyone have a pdf of the ISDS 705 book they'd be willing to share?
A report on the ACCT exam. I found all of the problems to be similar difficulty to the practice exam he posted. It wasn't fun. I found it to be nothing like the quizzes. There were a few variations of assessment like problems. Hope this helps.

Tigersauce,
Did you have enough time to complete the exam for acct? Was it a lot of calculations?

Greetings everyone. I am starting the program and hopeful that it will help me in my career and not just be a hoop jumping exercise to get the MBA degree. I hope to be helpful to others as much as others have been helpful in this forum.
I have a question for those who have taken the MADM classes related to organizations such as Organizational Strategy and Policies and Organizational Behavior. Did you find the classes applicable to real-world situations, and did the professors give you any insight into how things are in the real world. The reason I ask is that in researching the faculty, I have yet to find any of them who have had any real world experience. They all have stellar research and writing credentials, but no one I have researched has had a job outside of being a professor. This is concerning to me. Thoughts?

Just finished the fin701 exam. I feel like I drew some of the hardest questions out of the lot.
Not a whole lot of time to check my numbers, especially after struggling to fill in the short answer stuff. Hopefully A range and not a B.
Black-Scholes
Binomial Pricing
Constant growth
Yields, capital gains, and required rates
AIP/PVGO
FCF

Unfortunately some of the instructors are just administrators of the class through a third party like Cengage, Wiley, or McGraw Hill. You'll have little to no interaction with them. So even if they have real-world experience, you won't know about it.
I believe Meeks of Organizational Strategy & Policies listed quite a few companies he either worked for or established. Although he doesn't address those in regards to this class, the class focus is primarily on real-world, real company applications of strategy policies and concepts.
As for the other class you mentioned, Organization Behavior, Felice Williams falls into the rank of professors I initially mentioned. Her only communication is to give instructions on assignments, exams, and WileyPlus access. No discussion of Organizational Behavior between the professor and student takes place.

I thought the FIN 701 was about the same as the first difficulty-wise, but I feel like I was better prepared this time. I, at least, feel better about it than the previous exam, which I was convinced I did poorly on until receiving my grade. I had an even split of qualitative and quantitative questions and was technically done with 20 minutes remaining. However, I re-checked all of my answers, fixed some grammatical issues, and turned it in with 8 minutes left.
I assume we'll have our grades by tomorrow or Thursday. Fingers crossed everyone here did well.

quote:Though I haven't done extensive research myself on each professor, Dr. Meeks has started several businesses of his own. Also, both Shaughnessy and Vines have mentioned during web meetings that they've done consulting work in the past, though that might be typical of college professors.

As for how applicable material will be, I think it just depends on the alignment of your current career and the classes you take. I work in Finance but have an IT background, so I've seen immediate benefits from the accounting, econ, and finance courses. For example, managers in my department have been requesting more reports related to free cash flow lately (I'm on our business analytics and reporting team), which I only had a Wikipedia-browsing level understanding of. Well, the FIN 701 course I'm currently in is all about free cash flow and various methods for estimating it verses the average cost of capital. This has given me some insight into what our managers are looking for and *why* when they ask for these types of reports. I'm certainly not an expert now, but I feel like I have a better understanding of the big picture.
I do have some complaints about the program, of course. I feel like the classes could stand to be a week or 2 longer, with maybe only 1 session in the summer to offset the lost time. Some of them feel so fast paced that I worry I'm not going to retain some of what I'm learning. And, though I haven't really had any myself, I know there are some professors who don't *really* teach. However, I feel like you're going to see that at nearly every university.

Can you email me the syllabus for ECON 705? This is my first MBA course. Thanks in advance! allidugas@gmail.com

This is academia in general. "Publish or perish," etc.
The more hands on professors (Meeks, Vines, Shaughnessy, Hayati) are all excellent.
This program does have some duds that just administer online courses hosted elsewhere (cengage) and do the minimum amount of work required to collect a paycheck. It's not a large number, but they do exist.

done with FIN. I feel like i got really lucky with the questions. i was able to finish with 15 min left then review, which is good because I botched one. I felt less prepared for this one, but feel better "walking out".
