re: LSUS Online MBA Reviews

I'm actually taking ISDS 710 and MADM 720 this term. I initially dropped MADM 720 when I read the ISDS syllabus and saw the four case studies were supposed to be 5-10 pages each. When he settled on the 3-5 pages instead, I asked to be re-enrolled in MADM 720.

So far ISDS 710 is definitely not what I expected. Like others, I thought this was going to be pretty much only Excel and was blindsided by all of the writing. The case study took a decent amount of time to complete and I was shocked at the one sentence feedback when the grade was submitted. Seems a bit light relative to the time spent on the assignment. I haven't even received my grade for the homework assignment yet, which is ironic because that was the only assignment in the week that actually involved data analytics. :dunno:

So far, so good. For the case study, I basically organized in the same order of the grading rubric and got 100%.

Still currently writing mine, but I suffered from the same issue initially. I found the case study rubric and the listing of three points he mentions in the submission page helpful in determining what does and does not need to be in the paper. I first started out with a summary of the case study itself , and after I read the rubric I realized that might not be the best way to start the case study.

This is taking a significant amount of time to write.

@DieDaily

Thanks for the update. I did read that in the Question forum. Hoping the final exam is open note/open book.

Currently enrolled in both MADM 720 and ISDS 710. I don't know if I'll be able to handle both of these classes at the same time. ISDS 710 has a few 5-10 page case analyses (4) a decent amount of reading, required forum post and responses, plus a final cumulative final exam. MADM 720 honestly doesn't seem that bad but trying to take it together with ISDS 710 is a no go.

Syllabus for MADM 720 is now available.

@Paul Allen

I can't seem to find much information on MADM 720, but I see that you're one of the few people that has taken it. I am pairing it with a Data Analytics course (new to the program). I realize you won't be able to speak to that pairing specifically, but would you be able to shed some light on what MADM 720 was like for you?

Considering registering for ISDS 710 and MADM 720 for Summer AP1...

Good Idea? Bad Idea?

I'd avoid taking those two classes together if you can help it. FIN 701 isn't too hard but does require a decent amount of attention to get an A...and I've heard horror stories about MKT 701, which I'm about to take in Summer AP1.

If you do end up taking those two together, just be prepared to dedicate a decent amount of time understanding the concepts in FIN 701, not just how to do the math.

Grades are posted for Module 3 MADM701 Knotts

Anyone turn in the Application Assignment for Knotts MADM701? After spending all day yesterday writing, I re-read the prompt and just realized it says to demonstrate how one module 1 concept has been put in practice. Do you think I'd be penalized if I use a single practice to highlight more than one concept from module 1?

Am I over-thinking this?

I just took the exam for MADM701 with Knotts. I ended up with an 88%

Not too bad. You definitely need to read the chapters and watch the videos to get a decent grade. Other courses in this program may lead you to believe that you can review the PPT slides in place of reading the chapters, but for this course I strongly advise reading the chapters. If you're short on time and have to choose between reading the chapters and reviewing PPT slides, I'd go with reading the chapters. I'd also pay attention to definitions and distinctions between terms and theories.

I read through the syllabus for MADM 701 with Knotts. Looks like a fair amount of work each week.

Here's what my schedule for the remainder of the program looks like:

Spring AP1: MKT 701
Spring AP2: ECON 705
Summer AP1: ISDS 710 & MADM 720
Summer AP2: MADM 760 & ISDS 702
Fall AP1: MADM 701

I could've taken MADM 701 in Spring AP1, but I'll listen to those who have come before me haha Thanks for the advice everyone.

Side note: I'm also only taking ISDS 705 right now and really wish I had doubled with ECON 705.

I am contemplating taking MADM 701 with MKT 701 in Spring AP1. From what I've researched on this forum, MADM 701 doesn't seem to be too bad, but MKT 701 is the unknown for me.

Any feedback on the structure of the MKT 701 course? I need to gage if this is crazy or actually feasible.

Yeah you both should be fine. Those two courses together were a breeze. Just make sure you reserve enough time for FIN701 and ACCT can be fit in in an hour, just as a previous poster commented.

Would you be willing to share the pdf copy of the textbook? I'm also in ISDS 705 in AP2.

I got my bachelor's degree in Accounting, so to me it makes sense to learn about data analytics, which is really where the industry of public accounting is headed. I'm not saying Finance is similar to Accounting; I've learned a ton in FIN 701, but I feel like this degree will be more worthwhile for me with the Data Analytics specialization.

The only difference I've read about from a curriculum standpoint are the two courses I would've taken that were FIN and now I'm swapping those out for ISDS courses. I did have to officially apply to switch, but other than that, that is the only difference I am aware of.
