Been insured with the Farm my entire life. Switched to Geico yesterday and am saving almost $100 a month for better coverage and lower deductibles.

I couldn't be happier right now. Every single company I shopped with was cheaper but Geico's quote saved me the most.

Shop around, people.

I literally just did the same thing last month for me and my wife on our cars. Geico was about half of State Farm, who I'd been with for over 10 years.

Come to find out, since I'm no longer bundling with SF, homeowners insurance is going up $600/year. I'll be switching that to Geico as well. I'm a loyal customer but i have my limits

Good luck when you have a claim, but glad you saved some dough. State Farm is meh

Used to be with State Farm years ago until a woke up and smelled the coffee. Their rates were outrageous.

I have heard stories of Geico using non OEM and even used parts. That keeps me away from them.

It doesn't count for anything to be "loyal" to insurance companies.

Talk to auto repair shop owners. They will tell you Geico is just as good as State Farm in paying for claims quickly and very fairly.

Switched to geico auto a few years back and saved a good amount of money. Their bundled home owners policy (underwritten by liberty I think) was also substantially lower than any other quote I received.

Switch to an independent agent so they can shop it for you and you have someone running point for you who is not employed by the insurance company running down adjusters for you if you have claim issues.

I also switched to GEICO from State Farm and cut my premium by $2000/year (including Homeowners).

However, I recently purchased a new car and traded in my other. This one change caused my premium to DOUBLE and eroded all the savings I was seeing. I'm pretty pissed.

Same coverage, same drivers. Switched from a 2015 Acura SUV to an 2017 Infiniti Sedan, same price range.

Needless to say, I'm shopping again. It may be the car, but I find it hard to believe it costs more than 2 vehicles combined.

I switched from Allstate to Geico and saved over 500 in 6 months. Just got a renewal and yes it went up 60 or 70 bucks but I'm still way under what AS was charging. So I feel good still for now.

I'm still with SF and my *total* bill is about $85/month. That's car (2015 Ford Mustang), homeowner's, and umbrella rolled together.

Geico has awesome auto rates but you are making a big mistake switching your homeowners to them. They do not sell a "Gieco homeowners policy". They broker this out. The problem is that they only have about 2 homeowners companies writing in Louisiana. You need to call an independent insurance agency. For example I sell the same 2 companies they have plus 28 more. You will have a much better chance of getting the best rate on the market. Just an FYI

Moved my wife's car insurance from State Farm to Travelers when we got married and saved $150/month. My agent said it would have been better than that if we didn't have a couple of speeding tickets on our records.

being "as good as" state farm isn't a good thing.

Every insurance company does this unless your car is less than a year old. Some may be more flexible with you when you demand OEM parts, but most won't.

One of my biggest frustrations when I was a claims adjuster. If your car is 5 years old with almost 100,000 miles, you're probably not getting a brand new, OEM bumper put on it.

I really need to get off of my arse and do this. I've been with State Farm and the rates are ridiculous. Can anyone recommend a good independent agent in Lafayette?
