Let’s see those 2020 401k returns

I manage this account as it was from an old job and averaging typical 7-10 percent a year. I just rolled it over to E*TRADE and was able to pick high growth stocks like Pins, docu, Amazon, DKNG and a few others I really liked especially during the dips this year. Also am an avid biotech guy and Ocul, tcon, and tril killed it for me this year as long term holds into multiple catalysts
This is just a rollover 401k I have that I like to have fun with.....my wife and I each have 401ks we max out with current healthcare jobs. I was up 13% in my work 401k for the year.

18% in 401k. I’ve noticed the international fund option in my 401k did pretty good I wonder if I should allocate more to that. I thought 18% was good until I saw you baws

You beat the S&P 500 return which is good. I had a very good year in mine for whatever reason.

One fund much more heavily weighted to tech driving the returns.

I cashed out 100k in October and put it in a low fee real estate fund building rent house neighborhoods. 6% preferred, big K-1 write off and huge upside when neighborhoods are sold off.

This is me. The Fidelity Fund I mentioned above had a 61% return this year and the Hartford fund had a 33% return.

21.10%
Now if I could just do that every year for the next 10 I’d retire early.

What’s with these high returns? I thought most people were happy with 10-15% returns?

I had 2 funds that had monster returns. Probably just heavily invested in tech while some sectors like energy had a bad year and held the overall market down somewhat.

12.12% for me, but I had some dogs this year and I started "actively" managing my 401k mid year. I have a SDB option in mine and I've gotten 19% on the portion that is self-directed. I'm young so it won't make a real difference in the long run, but I transferred and reinvested like 20% of my 401k holdings into the SDB portion in mid October which was a ATH at the time. market had a decent pullback immediately after lol. If I had initiated the transfer like 2 days later than I did I would have timed it nearly perfectly. Thems the breaks.
My Roth had a ROR of 30% and my brokerage was like 22%.
Overall portfolio growth was solid. Don't feel like doing an ROR for my entire portfolio but I imagine it was in the low 20s.

mine was 18%...
all stocks..
but to be fair I am just a low level investor...
after 3 years... my 401 K is over $50,000 which I was super happy about.
At first I was concerned about " missing" my money going into that account but I'm used to it now and ready to see it grow higher.

15%. I am retired and have approximately 40% of my and wife's IRA in bond funds. Best return was from Vanguard Extended Market Index Fund at 32%. All is appreciation since I no long contribute.
Actual return was probably a little better since I took a small withdrawal early in the year before learning that there would be no Required Minimum Distributions in 2020. Considered putting the money back in but decided not to.
Very pleased with the return in the 4th quarter.
