I bought a 351W (Windsor) V8 from a friend and then paid some shade tree mechanics to install it into a late 1970s chassis my dad got from his work. It had a big "V" in the panel from a fork-lift driver who didn't know what they were doing. Altogether it cost me $600 and ran great until my brother borrowed it and totaled it. Thanks, bro.

1981 Datsun 510. Paid $500 to buy it from my sister. It was a piece of shite rust bucket but I did install a damn fine sterio, amo, bazookas, all of which were later stolen and never replaced.

I save and purchase a 1989 Dodge Daytona for $4500 after working for 2 years

My first purchase: 1998 blazer, 40(ish)k miles for $16k

In the market now for a used truck for my son… no way to find age/miles

92 senior year of high school, I was ready to get a car. Saw a 83 Mustang 5.0 (actually had a police package 5.5 in it) I had to have for $3,000. Had some cash and my dad loaned me the rest. That car was so fast and awesome. Looking back, it's no wonder my parents didn't want me to get it

1987 4 door Cavalier in 1990. It had 87,000 miles on it for $3000.

Drove that think all through college and it finally crapped out at 375,000 miles in 1996.

1989 - Ford Ranger single cab (two toned)

Paid $2,800 and it took me 3 years to save that money. Was making $3.35/hour when I started working and not that much more when I bought the truck.

But I was 17 years old and driving my own vehicle to High School without a penny given to me by my parents.

Freshman year of college 1985, when I got tired of hitching rides back and forth to Ruston, I paid 1,700 for a '79 Chevy pickup (standard transmission, no a/c). My Dad said I was a fool for doing it and that I'd be working on it more than driving it. That very night I was beating on the linkage with a hammer to get it out of second gear. That was right before the first of many boot knockings went down on that long vinyl bench seat.

Sold it after two years for 1000. I'd give a lot more for it now.

1993 Black Nissan Maxima with an Alpine deck, a Fausgate Amp and two 12” Kickers in the back. On my back glass it said…
“If you got it….Crank it”

Exactly like the one Kaine and Old Dog stole from the parking garage on Menace II Society….great movie

Paid 11.5K with 35,000 miles on it
