AMEX Everyday Preferred
Posted on 1/12/16 at 9:21 am to Big Saint
Just wanted to share my small win from this last week. I've had a Chase United card for years, and I have been able to use points for 1st class international travel, but I've always known that I better be flexible and lucky to get flights that will work with points. (Like being able to land any where in Europe flexible).
But at some point I got a Delta Amex, and built it up to 90k points or so. I also had an unusual to me situation where I needed to get a flight from AEX to GSP on 3 weeks notice. Cash price was $461/person. Just on a chance I checked the Delta site, and sure enough, the exact flight that I needed was able to be purchased for 25k miles and $11 (for 2). Very pleased with Delta right now.

I hate Delta but that is a pretty sweet deal

Definitely had to Google both of those.

This is where Delta awards shine IMO. Regional jets in to small airports.
e.g. I got 4 one ways from BTR to Green Bay for 50k total. $2k cash value.

I actually knew the GSP one from trying to get my wife to a funeral in Abingdon, VA I believe
AEX is probably one of the better acronyms for such a let down destination though

As a MMA fan, I always think of George St. Pierre, GSP. Ha.

Flying East out of Alexandria is a great way to start a trip in that direction.

I just got a great deal on a Delta awards flights from Denver to Atlanta for the Masters this year.
It sucks they devalued their points and mileage program. I really like Delta but I switched to AA because of the lack of flights out of Denver.

I was just approved for the premier rapid rewards and premier business rapid rewards with the 50k points if I spend 2k in the first 3 months.
Just wanted to come on here and thank the MT for putting me on to this deal! Looking forward to the companion pass.

I find this too, use them often to take quick last min. trips for low mile numbers instead of a 10-12hr drive. Often the tickets would be cash $500-800 and miles end up at 20-25,000.
AA is good too, with Citi reduced mileage awards I was able to score 2 tix to Jackson Hole for total of 35,000 miles, cash price was $1,700.

Oh btw I lied about this . I haven't gotten mine, but since I belive we applied on the same day, I was hoping you'd be proactive and see where we stood.
I had checked with them via online chat in early December and they said I met the requirements.
I just haven't gotten around to asking where the hell my points are.

By the way, you probably saw that Barclay's did fulfill your wish of new product offerings.
Only $995 annual fee. No big deal.

I'm sure the answer is in here 10 times, but this thread is also 222 pages, so forgive me...
I currently only do the interest free credit card thing and pay the card off periodically and then switch to a new interest free card when that deal ends.
Can someone point me in the direction of a post/article or where to go to figure out to start trying to get a card I'd use for most basic daily spending to rack up the rewards? I've never looked into that.

AA Citigold Miles Update:
So I chatted with them online, and I said that I was wondering if I needed to give them my FF number for the bonus and they said quote:
"You need to call our New Account Servicing(NAS) and update your AA number to receive the promo bonus."
That number is 800-745-1534 Option 1
Though when hitting Option 1, it doesn't really seem like you are going where you should. Anyways, I then talked to some lady and repeated my question, and she said they can't take my FF# over the phone.
But, I had her look up my Citigold account, and she said "we should have reached out to you, etc." And I said, Yes, I've talked to you all but no one asked for my number. "Looks like we targeted you, and you are clearly eligible for the promotion (I never was targeted just like you fine folks
), but I'll put your FF# in the notes."
She then repeated the requirements for the bonus, though I've already met them, and I got off the phone.
I suppose I could have pushed now that they have everything, but I'll give it a few days to see what happens.

I am pretty sure that they look up your AA number that is connected to your Citi AA Platinum card. Which is a pre-requirement to be eligible for this offer. My miles posted about a week ago.

They do, I was just speeding up the process because I want to cancel my AA card.

If AF is a problem - they'll waive it. Unless you're churning..

What are your thoughts on the Citi Thank You Premier card. I received an invitation to earn 50000 bonus thankyou points but do not know if it is a card worth bothering with. What cards are best to start earning points.
