Congrats! I should be hitting the same milestone any day now. You are ahead of me by 11 years. The thing I’ve seen of my friends who got there faster than me is that their discipline and consistency was greater than lots of knowledge that I acquired but didn’t apply with their discipline and consistency.

Congrats. Good job on the investing.
I was 40 but I don’t include the house in that millionaire figure. Just retirement plus brokerage investments. You’ll be impressed by the compounding you’ll begin to see.
My recommendation is to write down the date you hit the $1M invested assets mark, then do the same for $2M, $3M, $4M and so forth. You’ll be amazed by how the time periods become compressed compared to saving the original $1M. It’s very motivating.

Congrats!
My wife and I were 40 and 38. We crossed that mark (not counting home value) in 2020 and then lost a good bit in those covid years recovering in 2023. But we just crossed the 2M mark in 2025. So even considering the dip, we pretty much doubled in 5 years.
We've got no specialized knowledge. Just started as soon as we could, got professional help from a childhood friend who manages our stuff outside of work accounts. Slow and steady, never wavering has really paid off. Time is amazing.
I know this board finds it fairly commonplace, but literally no one I know well, or work very closely with has any sort of decent retirement. We're in pretty rarified air I suspect. I know a few guys who are always looking for hail-marys to retire, and my wife and I are managing the clock with a nice lead.

Nice! I’m 36 as well and had a late start (30)
Anyway, we’re approaching a half million and I’m pretty jacked about it

Don’t want to bust your bubble but at your age you’re gonna need at least 15 million to retire

I would like to officially revoke my millionaire status!

I was 32 with all assets included, and 35 with just stocks and cash. Now, at 51 we have 8.1 just in stocks and cash. It is nice to have, but I wish I would have lightened up on the savings at times. I became way too locked in on watching the numbers monthly, and I didn’t enjoy everything as much as I should or could have. Enjoy the ride and congrats

The first million is the hardest. Keep saving and investing. You will be amazed how fast that will snowball.

Congrats to OP. Grinder is giving good advice. Hitting my first million was satisfying, but the time period to the 2nd million and beyond was much more motivating to me. OP has done the work to build a significant base. If OP stays disciplined, the opportunity to become a multimillionaire is within reach. It is very feasible to double to 2M by age 40 and double again to have 4M by age 50.
Keep doing what you are doing!

I’m sure my view is a little skewed because of market results over the past decade, but if I was at $2 million at 40, I would definitely target $5 million to $10 million by 50. If he is a high earner, that’s very doable.

I didn't even realize we were until now. Looking back, probably 37-38? Wild.

That’s quite the accomplishment. Great job
I’m 53 and probably a couple years away unfortunately. Career change caused a late start. Like someone else mentioned I spend too much time obsessing over daily changes and being too frugal.
Congrats again and continued success
