Anyone getting in on United Airlines today?

Down 4% as of now after the video of their dragging a man off the plane surfaced. Usually these outrages are forgotten about in a few days. I'm not a big United fan as far as the flying and customer service experience goes, but is this easy money?

im not sure its at bottom from this yet, but yea, capitalizing on social media outrage seems a viable option ---- theres got to be some research on the cycles it follows at this point

Safer bet than buying one of their tickets.

My wife read a comment posted from someone that flew Southwest today. They said the flight attendant announced over the intercom before the flight "we need 4 volunteers.....nah just kidding"

I'll definitely consider it if it keeps going down some more. Once people get over their faux outrage, they'll go back to picking flights based on convenience and timing just like before. Seriously doubt something like this warrants a 4% drop (or 1% where it closed). Looking for it to go down more before jumping in.. 4% might have been the ticket looking back.

Probably right. People have short memories. I'm going to see how much farther this goes.

What's funny is SW has the highest rate of removing passengers due to overbooking. They are probably just much more diplomatic about it

I'll have to check out the P/E and the dividend.

It was easy money. It was down about 4% this morning, no way it was going to stay down. Came back up this afternoon, cashed out. This will all be forgotten in a few days.

I'm flying United from Honolulu to Houston today. Hopefully I don't get clubbed or put in a choker hold

Yeah, I should've gotten in. It was only down 4%, but is almost back up. People will forget about this in days. I'll be keeping my eyes open for more social media outbursts.

Most likely is that 99% of passengers get off when asked. Then 99% of the 1% get off when law enforcement shows up. Then 1% of that ends up with cops beating up noncompliant passenger. United just happened to be the plane this guy was on.

When I was in the 9th grade me and a couple of friends were going to pretend to invest $10k in the stock market and at the end of the school year see who came out the best. I went all in on Pan Am. About a week later Flight 103 happened. My $10k became less than a few hundred in just a few days. I learned a great lesson on diversification, but I also decided I would never invest in air travel again. To this day I have not invested in another airline company (unless it's part of a mutual fund that I can't control).
