If you roll over an IRA to Robinhood, they add 2% of your total rollover amount to your account. Only condition is that you have to stay for 5 years or they can take back all or part of the 2%.

Seems like a no brainer. Anyone do this?

Remember when Robin Hood froze all trading with GameStop and prevented normal ppl from beating the hedge funds?

I'm amazed the entire company didn't go belly up after that

I took their bonus $ ($27k so far) and have had no issues. I just buy and hold index funds so don't see how their past trading pause issues could effect me. They have same SIPC protections as other brokerages. Only thing I really don't like is they encourage users to play predictions markets including sports. I'd avoid the platform if susceptible to gambling. Their interface is also kinda cheesy to me but some like it and think it's more enjoyable

For all their faults, RH helped bring zero fee trades to the consumer investor and it's now industry standard. Others can keep hating them, I'll keep taking the company's money.

I’ve also taken the transfer bonus to RH, but took it when it was boosted to 3%. It was a 401k for a previous employer so I needed to move it to an IRA or roll it over anyway

I have no issues with RH despite their shady past on GME. The product is too good otherwise

I was intrigued by it… how does that work though for retirement accounts? It is just treated as gains or some kind of contribution?

It doesn't count towards your contribution limit.
