He should want to win it. Not at the expense of messing up your rotation for the regional but hell yea he wants to win it. I know I would.
Any competitive person would.

complete bullshite take. He believes we’re one of the best teams in the country. Our ELO ranking is #3 right now

If you don’t see us trying to win the tournament you are missing the big picture. As a high two seed we have a possibility of a super regional and revenue for the school. Home field advantage for a bid to the CWS.

If we don’t see Jump or Holman again, that does not equate to “not wanting to win”.

Sure he’d like to win, but he doesn’t want to win badly enough to go all out. That is, he is not going to push his pitchers as though it’s the NCAA tournament.

Last season we saw him bring back Shenes on four days rest. And we saw that with Jump and Holman to start the tournament because our season hung in the balance. On Sunday Jump will be on four days rest, but if he uses him at all it won’t be for more than 25 pitches because the SEC tournament isn’t important enough.

He will maximize the options he has. Johnson is a competitive guy, he wants to win this badly

Sure, he'd like to win it, but make no doubt, it's all about the post season. The further this team goes in this tournament, the easier the argument for a higher seed. More importantly, this team is gaining very valuable tournament style experience, finding ways to win with a depleted pitching staff and needing people to step up and the bats to cover. If this team can win this tournament, they'll be much better prepared to win in regionals and then in Omaha.

Time to rest the starters and let the relievers step up and get some experience and hopefully confidence.

He knows this team probably isn’t going to Omaha, so he’s trying to get our young guys as much experience and big time games as he can, so they are ready for it when they do get back to Omaha. Which will probably be next year! But he’s not going to throw Jump or Holman, except maybe in the 9th to get the save Sunday!

How on earth some of y’all are allowed to even watch baseball blows my mind. This is an all time dumb take.

Well duh, as long as he isnt compromising arms to do it, sure. But he doesnt wanna win it bad enough to potentially burnout holman, herring, or jump

That means starting Jump on Sunday and letting him throw about 80 pitches, then Herring for about three innings. He isn’t doing this. He is most certainly NOT going to maximize the options he has.

The 2022 Ole Miss teams says you don't know shite

The 2022 Ole Miss team went 0-1 in the tournament as the 9th seed. SEC tournament success or failure has nothing to do with next week. I say try to win this.

And I hate some of the posters who don't realize that the SEC tournament means nothing at this point. We're in the NCAA tournament. Let's go home before we burn ourselves out emotionally over something that isn't going to mean a thing next week. See there? it works both ways.

Now you see how all this post season stuff really tests your pitching staff Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Saturday Sunday that’s tough to handle. Neat year single elimination with 16 teams insane top 4 with bye

That’s a big no, he wouldn’t be saying his team is playing as good as any team in the country, if he wrote them off. He believes they can make a run if a few pitchers hit their stride and the bats keep coming up with clutch hits throughout the lineup.

Johnson threw some caution into the wind when asked whether the likes of right-hander Gavin Guidry, left-hander Nate Ackenhausen and left-hander Griffin Herring could pitch again in Hoover.

I love CJJ, but why the heck did leave Guidry in with an 11-0 lead? Ran his pitch count to near 40. Anyone could have closed out that game. Or let Guidry get the first or second out then make the change. It’s a 12 team double elimination tournament. Save your arms any way you can.

This is dumb. The SEC tourney means a hell of a lot to competitive people.

To bean counters, probably not. To ball players, absolutely.

When you have momentum, you roll with it.
