If you watched that team this year and didn't think a can of soup would be a better coach, I just don't know what to tell you.

McMahon was "Curley Hallman" bad. (Look it up.)

Even though every basketball fan with a pulse was disappointed that Wade was let go the first time, we accepted the loss and most of us supported McMahon the first two years. When it became obvious that he was clearly not a guy who could win, that support dwindled. Not because we hated the guy but because basketball was unwatchable and joyless with him as the coach. At least we have a reason for not wanting McMahon to coach LSU. Not liking Wade as a coach means you don't like winning basketball.

He was worse than Curley bad. Curley beat Alabama and had a few moments here and there. McMahon literally had no moments at all.

I'll say that I would be happy to wager any amount that his record will not be worse than last year.

People who wishcast bad things for their team for the sole purpose of being proven right on a freaking message board, are the strangest people in the world to me.

It’s weird how some people on here want our men’s basketball program to stay in the gutter

It's because they are not really basketball fans. They're just self intersted people (in what, I don't know? Anonymous internet clout?) who want to prove the "crowd" wrong. That's it. Nothing more.

A fan of the basketball program would not want to keep rolling over the objectively worst coach in the conference and worst LSU coach in 50+ years all while making a litany of never endings excuses as to why he has lost so many games...while simultaneously rejecting the idea of bringing back the coach who has the highest winning % of any LSU basketball coach in 100 years, and led the program to its most consistent period of winning in decades.

Take the school name off the jersey and hide the names of the two coaches, and every rational sports fan in the world would think that is an unbelievably stupid mindset. Yet, that has been the reality of a portion of the LSU fanbase for the last 4+ years. A basketball fan is not really a personal fan of the HC. He/she just wants a HC who will win. End of discussion.

As for the OP, it is clearly an attention seeking troll attempt not really based in some degree of logic. I still don't think many people who would consider themselves to be casual basketball fans fully realize just how bad McMahon was at LSU. He was historically awful at a program that hasn't necessarily been consistently dominant over its history. That means for Wade to be worse than last year...or any year of McMahon's tenure at LSU... he would have to have a season well outside the norm of his 12 year HC career. That's because even Wade's worst season at LSU was better than McMahon's best season.

This.

Again, many don't realize that because they are far bigger fans of football than basketball. But Curley, for as bad as he was, still had a significantly better SEC winning % than McMahon. And it's not like Curley took over a great program in an era where a coach could immediately turnover a bad roster with several good, experienced players. Archer was just as bad in the two seasons prior to Curley.

It may take several years for everyone to fully grasp it, but McMahon was the worst coach at LSU, in any sport, over the last 40-50 years of the athletic department.

With the talent level thus far WW has delivered, even McMahon would have a SEC winning record with this group.

We’ll be fine.

He's one of the negative oriented "Complain-A-Whiners" that wants attention and knows that posting something negative will trigger more responses.

There's a lot of "Hey everybody, look at Me" types on the Rant.

I'm not a Will Wade Sycophant, but he IS one of my favorite all-time HC's at LSU (1. Saban 2. Arnsparger 3. Bertman 4. Brown 5. Sciacchetano 5. Wade) and basketball is firmly #2 in my pecking order. Gotta get that thing going again and transform the PMORGUE back into the PMAC!

BTW, Is there anybody on here that ever attended an LSU wrestling match under HC Larry Sciacchetano? (Pronounced: Shacka Tan Oh) Coach "Shack" had the LSU wrestling team nationally ranked and kicking arse back then. Matches in the Assembly Center were "Up close and Personal." With the way they had it set up for wrestling, everybody was seated down low and close to the floor! (Pretty exciting in person if you've never been to a College wrestling match)
