Yeah, and that’s the same one playing a schedule ranked 112 in the nation. If we take him do we get to play his same schedule??

This is a really stupid argument

The people of this viewpoint are not really seeing the big picture. Napier has been talked about nationally and been offered SEC jobs. He's not just getting discussed on this board because he's in the same state.

And Napier has yet to be caught in a "compromising" position.

I’m sure he’s a good coach but I would like one who has played a number of big boys a yr as opposed to maybe one

is he coaching at a big boy school?

why the frick is he supposed to be beating the big boys? He did beat one last year too btw.

Im not saying he should get the job but its a dumbass comparison. So the texas game he played this year was do or die? can never come back from that.

he is playing teams with comparable resources. Actually if being honest he is playign teams with more resources. only team he has played with less resources is Nicholes.

and again im not saying he shoulf get the job, but to rule him out because he coaches at ULL is fricking dumb.

Should tressel not have gotten OSU because he never beat the big boys? Should Urban not have gotten UF because he was a flash in the pan?

everyone wants to throw out herman without context, Sure he went 13-1 in his first year. But he was also given a stacked roster that he dindt build. one that had more 5 star players than the rest of the conference combined. In his second season when he went 9-3 he had 9/19 5 and 4 stars in the conference and still lost to navy, smu and memphis before losing to SDSU in the bowl game. His whole damn persona was built over that OU win to start the season and getting them to #6 in the rankings to start the season 5-0. BUt outside of that damn OU win, they beat uconn, tx state, cincy and lamar. So yea he beat a big boy, then followed it up with 3/4 games against teams with way way less resources.

Fickell is my #1, Cristoball #2, Napier #3, Kiffen #4

i think its funny though same people dogging Napier and praising lane for going 9-3, 5-7, 9-3 at FAU in a conference not as good as the sunbelt.

So lane is a genious for having worse records than Napier at a school with way more resouces and playing in an easier conference? Because i know you are not relying on Lanes record at UT, USC or Ole Miss. and I say that as a guy with lane as his #4

Honestly, I’m just glad we don’t play them this year. It looks like Napier is coaching the best team in Louisiana.

Would it make you feel better if he was doing what he was doing at say, idk, North Texas or Middle Tennessee State?

No

And exactly the reason Woodward isnt going to hire him. No matter what G5 school they were hyped from, you can go through the list Norvell, Taggart, Frost, Herman, Malzahn, Morris, Sumlin, Butch Jones, Justin Fuente. None elite

I like napier because he has a plan and implements it

He revamped ul's complete program. Brought in over 40 staffers.

Intelligent, offensive mind, and stable. He is def on the list of 5 coaches that might get the job.

I don't see fickell taking the job. Freeze isn't going to be allowed to take the job.

Kiffin scares me. I would interview a guy like jeff hafley. Star in the making.

taggart didnt comes from a G5 school, Malzahan had aubrun playing in the NC game his second season.

Sumlin had good years at A&M, especially coming into the SEC where they did better than they were in Big 12.

Morris had a losing record at SMU. Dumbass hire

Herman was fools gold and was left a stacked roster at houston. But lets not try and act like he didnt turn Texas around. after 3 straight losing seasons he went 32-18 there. Not good enough but lets not try and act like he didnt do some good.

Frost took over a program at UCF that was coming off a bad season but otherwise had been very very solid under O'leary. They have more resources than any team in the conference. his failures at Nebraska were predicted by most on this board that truely follow football

Butch Jones roder Brian Kelleys coat tails and just followed him into getting the UT job.

Fuente had one good seaosn he parlayed into a big job that is tough to win at and he wasnt ready for.

Norvell is at FSU which has its own set of problems. Same problems they had at end of jimbo era, through Taggart and now norvell era. but this is only year 2, but yea lesson learned....dont go get the Memphis coach.

but plenty of others from G5 schools have done well btw.

LSU hasnt hired "to do well" since Saban. Then we did exactly that with EdO. Woodward isnt taking that chance again

Losing always hurts....the way we are losing with the talent we have is truly amazing. There are a number of good coaches out ther..just share with you a thought on Coach Freeze....Freeze has guided the Liberty football program to its best ever start at 7-0 and first ever national ranking as the Flames are ranked No. 22 in both the Coaches and Associated Press Top 25 polls this week. Liberty has defeated its first two ACC opponents in school history earlier this season, with wins over Syracuse and Virginia Tech. Freeze is 15-5 in his season and a half as Liberty’s head coach, including an 8-5 mark last year where he guided the program to its first every bowl appearance and bowl win, 23-16, over Georgia Southern in the Cure Bowl.

That was last year. FWIW, they are 5-1 with a loss to Syracuse this year.

Using competition played as a factor in judging players/teams/coaches is stupid?? Someone needs to tell the playoff committees.

Do a lot of people here operate off the assumption that anyone coaching UL is some baw they plucked from the fishing hole and gave a headset?
