I think the reason a person would play, even when there is risk, is because they care about their teammates and don’t want to let them down. A “let’s finish together what we started together” mentality.

Yeah, thats why they play but they stupid for playing. The NFL is not going to care if they sit out. Agents are wanting them to sit out. NFL teams start jockeying for draft position to take certain players weeks before the regular season ends.

Yep, tried to ride that one big game into the next years draft. He fricked up and got fat and lazy, cost himself 18 million or more.

You want to go out there and risk 18 million thats on you. Thats not my loss thats your loss. But you mad because some kid wont go out there and risk it all for your vicarious championship. Man frick your vicarious championship. Pay me motherfricker.

I never said anything of the kind, you are putting words in my mouth, I’m just trying to explain to you that most people view playing for a championship as “worth the risk”. It’s not my decision or future so I really don’t care what the kids do. Taking your logic to the extreme, why should a sophomore projected to go high play at all his 3rd year? Think not playing next year would hurt Tua’s draft stock? Hell no. (Sweet baby Jesus please let him sit out next year )

I will say I think the idea that they are “risking” millions is greatly exaggerated. Yeah Jaylon Smith got hurt and maybe fell because of it (December draft projections are not guarantees). But Todd Gurley tore his ACL late in his Jr year and was still top 10. Sam Bradford misses almost all of his last year with a separated shoulder and still went #1 (he also opted to go back to school and then got hurt)

What looks better on your resume a NC win and a top 10 draft pick.

Or a Fiesta Bowl or Citrus Bowl win and a top 10 draft pick.

But you are stopping your education immediately to go pro, and may come back to finish on your own dime. Ya'll are trying to make this a moral issue, and it's not. It's a wise choice. If it was your son, would you think the same? I don't think ya'll are being honest with yourselves.. would you look down on your son for not playing to guarantee a 30+ million dollar contract in a few months because he was a top 10 pick in the draft?...

By this rationale why should anyone play at all? Why risk permanent paralysis or CTE? Each player has to weigh the risk for himself and decide

Because you care about your team mates and your school. You got a free education and preparation for this lucrative career you are about to embark on. Is there risk? Sure - but there is also integrity.

Hey you said I was offended. Im not offended, this is a busines decision. Aint no emotion in that decision. Its strictly about money and when it becomes anything other than that you lose.

I love LSU but give me the choice of LSU winning 10 NC's or 18 million dollars, Im sorry Tiger fans.

If LSU was in SEC Title game and going to playoffs if they win then Greedy would 100% play.

Players play to...1) Get drafted make money 2) Win NC in college
3) Get your degree

In that order

You are spot on with this. As a fan I want the best players for my team to play, but if I'm a guaranteed first round pick, I'm sorry, but I wouldn't play - and that includes the playoffs.

A bowl game win means nothing if I get my knee caved in and ruin my career. Sorry, but this is now business and the livelihood for me and my family.

Let’s not act like these colleges aren’t making out like bandits having first round nfl talent on their teams for the price of room and board.

Except most players in teams with 0 shot of making a bowl probably still need to show they’re first rounders.

They’ll play in the playoffs. Now a normal bowl game I wouldn’t play.

You’re kidding if you think they sit out with a chance to win a natty

I don't understand this mentality. I would never quit on my team. IF I'm a first round pick, I'd have insurance in case I got hurt. But I'm playing with my team.
