re: You are a guaranteed 1st round pick why play in the playoffs

I think it comes down to a persons commitment and integrity. Of course kids nowadays are more concerned with money than honor and integrity. They shouldn’t be though. Money will always come and go.
Again, this is such bullshite thinking. A lot of these guys have families that are counting on them for support. Maybe it's a gf/wife and kids. Maybe it's a mom/dad that have struggled financially and are hoping to get out of a bad situation. You name it, these kids have those situations. You have to remember they're people too.
So if you're in a position to get an opportunity to drastically improve your life and the lives of the people that you love, is it really lacking "honor and integrity" to minimize your risk and ensure that you get that opportunity?
I'm sure you are trustworthy and dependable as you say, and you work hard to provide for those you love and support. Aren't these players trying to do the same thing? Isn't it the "dependable" decision to minimize risk and capitalize on the opportunity?
You have to think of all that goes into these decisions. Put yourself in their shoes. You can easily make the argument that, for the player and those around him, often times the "integrity" or the "honarable" decision is to sit out take the opportunity to provide for your family for a lifetime.
It's different if a kid is from a wealthy family that doesn't need the money, but in the many cases that the kid and his family are depending on him, they are making the right call to protect themselves.
I love LSU and I hope all our players play and even come back as seniors and never get injured. But I understand that they are playing for a lot more than glory on Saturday nights. They're playing for their future and the opportunity they have, and I respect their decision (whatever it is) to do what's best for themselves, their family, and their loved ones.

Letting kids sit out of bowl games teaches a terrible life lesson.
Who is letting them sit out? It's their decision and a smart one. Some kids go to earn college degree some go to earn a first round pick.

Yes.... the University committed to pay for your education.... And regardless of what some say.... You owe them a commitment in kind....
What a ridiculous argument. The university doesn't pre-pay those 4 years so if you leave after 3 years they've only paid 3 years of tuition. Neither parties owe the other anything after that.

I have no problem with their choice. But if they aren’t going to take the education they should repay the money spent on them if they don’t complete their degree.

I know what you are saying is tongue-in-cheek, but in many situations, they do...
When the University helps move you AND your family to the area, gets your parents a job, etc, then yeah...

If I were projected to go in the 1st round it would be a tough choice. 3-4th round I would play. Millions in guaranteed money is not something many of us could turn down. If you have a wife and kid it makes the decision to take the money an easy one.

If I took the money without playing I hope I would at least feel obligated to pay some back to the University that had educated and fed me. Especially if I already had a diploma in hand that was gained under a full ride scholarship.
