No shite. The investigation is into Dawkins. The NCAA can now issue a punishment based on the FBIs findings. The FBI will be asking Wade to elaborate on what was mentioned in these tapes (speaking to the defendant, Dawkins), and asked very pointed questions.
He can plead the 5th to avoid self incrimination, but at this point, the NCAA will come knocking after that. I didn't think they would before, considering the previous tapes were thrown out. But this new tape is pretty obvious what he was doing.

There’s no investigation into Will Wade. There was one nothing was found and now he’s testifying in another case.
This.

This isn't good. It's not a smoking gun, but it's not good. This now makes at least 3 players or recruits tied to Dawkins: Koprivica, Sampson, and now Smart.
I'm kind of tired of all the speculation regarding LSU, when there are numerous other universities tied to this including at least 3 others in the SEC, namely Alabama, Miss St, and UK. Not to mention the biggest revelation in the original wiretap news was Zion being discussed with a Duke coach with specific details of his offer on the tap. Yet we hear nothing about Duke.
And hey, Wade, if you see this, take your pick: burner phone

I don't even care anymore.
Ive never cared about paying players. I kinda wish Wade would have had a bag man, but I'm going to enjoy the ride nonetheless. If the NCAA wants to take him down they'll find a way. Can't be having a non-blue blood play the blue blood game.

As per the courts and NCAA that may be true. Also maybe not.
But there is definitely, at minimum, an investigation into Wade happening by Forde and Yahoo.

Yeah this is not much more than the other calls at this point. Bad PR sure, possible bigger problem maybe. This is no smoking gun however. And yes the NCAA must prove something to punish Wade. The standard of proof is not hat of the court of law but it still exist on some level.

the main point is that Wade will be under oath
Not so fast my friend. This is far from a guarantee. Lots of maneuvering between here and there. Lots of legal negotiations, etc.
I will bet:
A. Wade never takes the stand
or
B. If he does, those questions are not asked

If the athletes were fairly compensated none of this would be an issue

Williams, historic cheater, wouldn't be caught dead being near a phone with a middleman. That's what Wade needs to learn here.
Maybe so, but you don't think if they NCAA really wanted to go after him they wouldn't be able to get anything on him?
This article tells you something right here.
quote:
WILLIAMS ‘DUMBFOUNDED’ ON FBI FINDINGS Williams said he remains dumbfounded about the findings from the FBI’s case on corruption in college basketball. He said in his 30 years of coaching, he’s never had a player or the family of a player ask him for money, and he’s never had a shoe company offer to recruit for him. “That world that people are acting like it goes on all the time, it does not go on all the time,” Williams said. “That world that they are explaining out there, that world that’s on national news, I am not familiar with. Period.”
Of course this story is buried under another story about him trying to do good things (I don't have a problem with him wanting to do good. That is great. It's just the fact the other report is buried under it).

Wade isn’t either that’s the point. He’s not stupid
Ok, I'll add I don't believe Cal, K, etc are the ones even talking to the bag man. They likely have handlers for that as well.

But this new tape is pretty obvious what he was doing.
It’s not even debatable that he was cheating, just whether or not there is enough evidence to drop the hammer.
Also not a good look that Will flat out lied to the media and fans about having dealings with this guy

well, the main point is that Wade will be under oath and will be asked to elaborate on what this offer entailed, what he meant by "tilted to the family", "piece of the pie", etc..
it's not looking good.
I hope he's getting good legal advice to answer these questions. Call Alan Dershowitz now...seriously.

He complaining that nothing has happened because the middleman was cut out.
If the mom and player were offered scholarship and Tix to games, that helps the middleman none at all.
There's your deniability of improper benefits being offered.

It’s always suspicious to me when an okay program all of a sudden starts getting better recruits and all of a sudden becomes a top-10 caliber team.
It's not like LSU just started pulling recruits out of nowhere.
Smart is from Baton Rouge. Naz Reid's girlfriend was already on the womens basketball team. Emmett Williams had legal troubles so teams stayed away. Tremont Waters backed away from Georgetown late after most other classes were filled.
That obviously doesnt mean Wade wasn't cheating, but it's not like any of these were particularly random.

“Dude,” Wade continued to Dawkins, referring to the third party involved in the recruitment, “I went to him with a [expletive] strong-arse offer about a month ago. [Expletive] strong.
“The problem was, I know why he didn’t take it now, it was [expletive] tilted toward the family a little bit,” Wade continued. “It was tilted toward taking care of the mom, taking care of the kid. Like it was tilted towards that. Now I know for a fact he didn’t explain everything to the mom. I know now, he didn’t get enough of the piece of the pie in the deal.”
Might get interesting in a few months.
In the meantime, lets win the championship.

So Forde can levy sanctions against LSU and Will Wade now? He’s an opinion peddler he can lie if he wants too, he has no power.
