Does anybody remember Foot Locker running the LSU basketball sale that year. Every point that LSU scored over 100 was equal to the discount you would receive on everything in the store. I remember my dad taking me and my brother to Foot locker after the Loyola Marymount game and it was so crowed but i got a pair of Nike air hightops that were like $150 for nearly half price.

Basketball games in that time had the feel of a football game. It was amazing.

I was on the front row of the student section for that game... pretty awesome experience... I remember they were giving oxygen to Randy Duvall on the bench during a timeout!

I miss those high-scoring games in the late 80's & early 90's.

actually it was the athlete's foot. i bought a pair of nike air "flight" the next day ($110 at the time) for like $65. i don't think they anticipated having to give a 48% discount!

geauxzone is the most frustrating POS site ever.

every time i have to pause the video to do some work when i come back its frozen. i reset it to the beginning or attempt to jump to the point i left and it just hangs up or resets back to the beginning.

jesus christ. its 2010. is this the best you can do??? thank god i don't pay to subscribe to this steaming pile.

if i can recall, on the broadcast you can hear Dan Borne' after the final buzzer say on the PA the score, then "what a game, what a great, great game"

What great memories. Thanks for posting the link. I was there in the student section. My last year at LSU. This definitely ranks up there with the most fun games I've ever seen. Not necessarily the "best" from a real basketball standpoint, but definitely just about the most fun.

And yes, the fact that we watched Gathers in one of his final games just adds to the poignancy of the memory of the game. I really liked watching those LMU teams in those years.

I still have a VHS of it too. I showed it to my boys (13 and 9) not long ago and they enjoyed it. They enjoyed watching the "skinny" SHAQ.

I was at both games, too. Was completely exhausted after this shootout. Best two basketball games I have ever seen for sure.
