UNLV, Loyola Marymount..and then Reagan speaking at my commencement that May in Tiger Stadium.

Still remember in the middle of his speech he started with "Hot Jambalaya..cold cous cous..!" and the crowd went apeshit.

It didn't get any better than that.

We graduated together (along with a few thousand others). Quite a hot graduation. And definitely a great time to have been a student at LSU.

yep! i was there in line..CJ even showed up and shot hoops on my friend's nerf goal we had set up. he made a shot from like 20 feet away (on his first attempt) and the students went crazy.

my friend had him sign the goal and then took it down and said no one else was ever going to shoot on it.

I remember going to this game with my dad when I was in 3rd grade. I just remember being in awe at how many points were scored. Definitely was a cool moment growing up. (and the Tigers winning helped)

its crazy watching that game...the way those teams ran the floor, makes it look like it was being fast forwarded.

seems like Loyola played someone earlier in the year and scored like 190 points but i can't remember who the opponent was. seems like it was a military school of some sort.

Thanx for the memories...I was there that game and it was one of the BEST if not the BEST game I've ever witnessed live...They burned up the teletype by halftime and it was like watching a tennis match(speed wise) to say the least...hell, at halftime I needed gatorade just from watching the 1st half..Glad to be able to watch it again...

Went to this one and the UNLV game, both were incredible. I remember Loyola headed into this game averaging a shot attempt every three seconds of game time for the season.

Too bad for Westhead this didn't work in the NBA, his team there (the Nuggets, I think) scored a lot but gave up even more.

you mean 10-K.

oh and i hope you ate some tiger chips. are there any better tasting chips? no way jose!

eta CJ was a joy to watch on this video..he was one with the zen-basketball gods during this game. its a shame he fouled out before the end but what a treat to watch that guy. he owned that sport.

Funny how with 10 seconds left with Loyola at the line to break the tie, Jim Hawthorne makes the call:

"And with ten seconds left UNLV is in great position ..."

They led the league with 118 ppg, but they gave up 131 ppg. I believe that each is a league record.
