Defense was not terrible for LSU last year, however we did have a couple horrible games (Tennessee, UGA, TAMU). We were at least a top 35 defense last year.

Kelly and its not close.
Riley’s teams are always soft. His defense is always bad because his style is soft. He wont have a good defense at SC next year either if he doesnt significantly change his offense. They practice with no physicality, they dont run the ball.
It affects how his defense plays.
Kelly has had good defenses and will again. Kelly has already been to multiple championship games too, riley hasnt, and wont, if he doesnt change his offense

The team we have this year is exactly the type of team that Riley has always had. An elite offense and a terrible defense. That is why he cannot win anything of significance.
This is 100% the wrong answer. Kelly at least has a track record of having solid defenses so he has earned the chance to make adjustments and fix this issue going forward in the next few seasons.

Kelley is the real QB whisperer. Look what he did with JD and look how Riley ruined Spencer Rattler, who everyone expected to be a Heisman candidate QB under Riley, then look at what he's done this year to Caleb Williams. He's got Caleb crying on the sidelines and his draft stock is getting crushed.

Riley stinks. Cut and dry. Ruined what Stoops set him up with at OU, then abandons one dumpster fire for another. Proceeds to bomb at USC after a hot start, losing to Tulane in the bowl. Prime example of a young guy that ascended too fast without really being put to the fire.
Kelly definitely earned his stripes over the years and builds programs into consistent winners. His biggest knock is that his teams almost always fall flat in big games. His niche is being a program builder.
If those are my choices then I'll take Kelly.
