At this point? Yes, very happy. Would probably make us a fringe playoff team. Likely on the outside looking in, but at least we'd have a shot.

saban and miles woulda made multiple playoffs with a top 12 only requirement.

Based on BCS/CFP rankings

Saban twice in 5 years (2003, 2004) (year 4 & 5) 40%

Miles 6 times in 11 full seasons (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011,2012) 54.5%

Once in 5 years (2019) 20%

Leaving out 2016 due to the split season that is 9 times in 21 seasons. 42.9% or 3 times every 7 seasons.

I think that is a sound expectation for LSU, particularly once the ship has been righted. Les would have made it 6 times in his first 8 seasons.

9-3 is mediocre in sec which means you 4,5,6 place. This clown got paid to produce a 9-3 team ??? Come on .

9-3 means no playoffs with a $20M roster and a $100M coach so no

word for word what I would say.

I'ms till gonna watch and enjoy each game cause college football season is fleeting..but for a program standpoint... no 9-3 isn't acceptable this year

I think money is Kelly’s saving grace. If we lose to A&M and Bama we will have lost 3 straight which would, minus being a year 1 or 2 coach, get you fired in almost all cases. The seat will certainly be lava hot after that though.

Normally, I set my standard at 10 wins for LSU football. If we end up playing a decent team in the bowl game, and play well to go 9-3 I'll be okay. If changes at OC and OL aren't made shortly after then I'll be upset.

Thrilled, but 6-6 is much more likely

9-3 is a fireable offense. 10-2 is the program expectation.

Which is BK’s absolute ceiling here.

No.

This was the "all in year". Experienced returning starting QB, continuity with the coordinators, plus a heavy push in the transfer portal for experienced starters. Combine that with the fact many of the other SEC contenders were all breaking in new starting QBs (Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee). LSU had a LOT of advantages relative other CFP contenders. Because of that, 9-3 would be a huge disappointment.

The last 3 HCs all won championships within their first 4 years. Kelly was the most accomplished football HC (in terms of his career resume) LSU had EVER hired (at the time of hiring). Even then, the expectation for this season was not a NC. It was a CFP appearance, at a time where there is greater opportunity to make the CFP than ever before in the history of CFB.

He wasted the 2023 season by not being able to field just an average (maybe slightly below average defense). The amount of money and effort spent signing transfer talent this offseason was supposed to make sure that didn't happen again this season. Instead, we are seeing a repeat of 2023. A decent offense from the year prior has totally regressed to one of the worst in the country.

This LSU team will not win a SEC road game. That puts them at 8-4 at best.

No. Playoffs or bust. This was supposed to be "The Year" and Kelly's best team at LSU. He's not paid $10-to-the-seventh-power a year for 9-3. He's had his mulligans.

Dude, 9-3 this year would be a divine intervention by God himself.

This. 9-3 ain't happenin' unless the Almighty himself intervenes.

You better be…SEC schedule and soon to come five road games every other year? …. It better start to be viewed as NFL records and not this unattainable undefeated 1-2 loss bullshite

I feel this team will go 7-5 or 6-6. Most likely 7-5, cause we ain't beating Texas A&M, Alabama and Oklahoma all in one season with this team.
Start packing, Brian Kelly!

At this point, sure. Win the bowl game and get to 10 wins I guess.

Lose less recruits, not making the playoffs triggers a big revamp of assistant coaches, get BK for 1-2 more years and lessen the buyout.

Can then throw the savings at another top notch defense.

No. Kelly literally has 0 reason for a 3 loss season this year. It’s all on coaching this season.

Happy? No. It will still be a disappointment and a failure of a season. However, that would mean that he finished the season 4-1. Which would buy him some good grace heading into next season. But it would still be a disappointment. Just as 2023 was a disappointment.
