To be fair, he also had that QB riding the bench to start the year. He only started Chambliss because he had to
Ok???
It shows he can develop guys and he’s not afraid to alter the depth chart if the backup comes in and plays better.
And that’s not the OP s question anyway.
All I’m saying is that if Kiffin came in, with his history, and said he can win with MVB, I’d trust him.

I saw signs of being good
but his accuracy is a problem and he isn't as fast I thought
but he is shifty

I’d be okay if we had to. He’s serviceable. They are going to be much better QBs in the portal but they will also be much more expensive.

I’m just saying you are talking about evaluating QB’s and Kiffin didn’t do a great job of that going into this year. If Ole Miss was still riding with their day 1 starter, I don’t believe that they would be a playoff team.
I personally don’t feel great about any QB next year because I have doubts about what kind of players they will be surrounded with

Hurley is no longer with the team. Didn’t travel to Bama and not at the game yesterday. He gone.

I like this approach--Keep giving him reps, but look seriously at bringing in a QB from the transfer portal to compete with him.
And it's about time we see if Hurley is ready to truly compete for the starting QB job, if he decides to remain at LSU after this season.

How and why the frick are we pretending like Michael Van Buren can be a starting QB at lsu?
Not saying he’s great or a future Heisman winner, but he literally started a game at LSU yesterday.

LSU has had two Heisman QBs in the last 7 years.
And a whole lot of meh before that. MVB is closer to the average LSU QB than Burrow or Daniel’s are.

He must improve his accuracy...also....he must learn to throw from the pocket....
My guess is that we might can do better.....

Comfortable no, but he is serviceable. No doubt LSU will be in portal looking for potential started and new coach may bring someone with them. MVB has earned the right to compete for position though.

Really depends who the coach and/or OC is.
If Kiffin took the LSU job and thought MVB was good enough, then absolutely yes. He is going to the playoffs with a D2 QB so I’d trust him if he said MVB was his guy.
Bingo. Teams don't need QBs that are exceptional passers and runners, but they do need to be talented enough to keep opposing teams guessing. Ole Miss QB isn't a great passer, but he's good enough to beat you with his feet and sound enough of a passer that teams have to respect, which opens up a lot more opportunities for the offense.

Didn’t he already decide?
Word yesterday was that he left the team, though I don’t know if that has been officially confirmed

Is this just a general statement or is this what you want from the QB position?
What a stupid frickin post

Personally I believe we need someone who can run when it all breaks down, but his accuracy needs lots of work. He threw behind lots of receivers yesterday

I think he'd be solid under Kiffin or Dillingham. Obviously, you always have one eye on the portal but I don't see an urgent need. Maybe for some depth.
Does Houston join the team this year or next?

No, I think he is a solid QB but not a championship caliber QB.
Posted on 11/16/25 at 10:32 am to coolpapaboze
He kinda reminds me of me of Kellen Mond from a few years ago
Posted on 11/16/25 at 10:39 am to Slippy
Depends on who enters the portal. Theres maybe 3 or 4 guys that would be sure fire takes over MVB
