Beating MSU would be huge

This. LSU got a really poor draw, opening with Moo State who beat the Tigers soundly on its homecourt, followed by Tennessee. Now if the Tigers somehow pull out those two games, then all bets are off, but their odds would seem to be very poor, as teams like Auburn and Alabama would await.

At this point in time I would say realistically LSU's chance to win it all is prolly about 1 in a million.

Thursday, beat Mississippi State.

Friday, beat Tennessee.

Saturday, beat South Carolina-Auburn winner.

Sunday, beat Alabama-Kentucky winner.

SECT Champions

Considering we only won 4 games in a row once this season, in a stretch that included Northwestern State and Lamar, it would be very shocking to say the least.

There's a potential path there, MSU, Tenn, Auburn, Bama, where LSU's average margin in 5 games vs those teams was losing by 18 points

It’s convenient how you left out South Carolina and Kentucky when discussing the path of LSU’s potential opponents.

Is it?

LSU wouldn't face USC until the Quarterfinals. And considering the fact Auburn beat USC by FORTY POINTS this season I'm assuming he felt Auburn would be the likely opponent should LSU make it that far.

Now, to be fair, you could substitute Kentucky for Alabama in that string. But all that would do is change LSU's average margin in four games from 18 to 13.5

Let's analyze this closer--

Thursday, beat Moo State.
Friday, beat Tennessee.
Saturday, beat Auburn.
Championship Game: beat Kentucky.

I'm embarrassed to have even put that in print. Sir (Your Holiness?), cut back on the nutmeg!

Yes, I would be shocked. We would be like that UGA team that ran the table a while ago.

Let's play out a wild scenario with a tiny bit of rational thought to justify it.

Arkansas beats Vandy. Despite being probably the most disappointing team in the country this season, they might be playing their best basketball of the season right now. They then upset South Carolina who the data says isn't as good as their record. They then take that momentum and beat Auburn.

In the top half of the bracket LSU, having already seen MSU once, puts together a better performance and wins a close game (plausible). LSU then gets one of those out-of-nowhere performances to stun #1 Tennessee. Likely? Hell no! But it's not all THAT uncommon to see a #1 seed have a lapse in play looking forward to the bigger NCAAT prize.

Suddenly bubble teams everywhere are peeing themselves with a "bid stealer" set to reach the finals.

In the bottom half A&M beats Ole Miss. They then play an inconsistent Kentucky team that has had bit of a tendency to overlook some "should win" games this year. A&M is the second most disappointing team in the league this year. But like Arkansas, there was a reason they were picked to finish high in the SEC. There is some talent there.

Florida knocks off a suddenly reeling Alabama team who Florida probably should have beaten 2x this season.

Florida then beats A&M and LSU realizes they have to play defense to beat an Arkansas team that has already maxed their run in the tournament. Jordan Wright then gets the shot he flubbed vs. Florida to fall! McMahon goes to the NCAA Tournament...and bursts McNeese's bubble after they lose the conf. tournament. Woodward gives McMahon a 4 year extension!!!

+25000 for LSU to win the tournament on Caesars seems like great value for you if you don’t think this would be a shocking outcome.

Would love to win the whole thing, but it’s super unlikely. We’d all be surprised.

Let’s focus on beating State first.

Yes. I'll be shocked if we get by Mississippi State. We're not beating Tennessee, so you can put that out your mind right now.

We can beat State, but beating TN is a tall order. It's possible, but we just don't have the depth they do. Winning the tourney is a real long shot...but I'll be there Sunday if they make it.
