I wish I could say that I'm surprised, but sadly it's exactly what I suspected.
And what is that exactly? Do you not know the words to the freakin national anthem?

I know the words to both the freakin national anthem and the alma mater, dumbass.
That's not the point I was trying to make.

Forgive the memory of this old man in this case, but they’ve also changed which verses of the Alma mater are sung in the last 15-20 years

Go to Hatcher Hall..look up in the lobby, the words to the Alma mater are engraved in the walls, or at least it used to be in the mid 80s

I know the first Stanza of the Alma Mater, but have to follow the words to remember the rest. It would also be nice for everyone else to sing it, especially those who are Alumni by Choice.
As to the Star Spangled Banner, yes, I think that most people know most of the words, but I also know that many transpose ‘night’ and ‘ fight’.
Lastly, if you were there you would have noticed how few were singing each of the songs as opposed to when they post the words.
why in the heck would anyone not want the words up?

No they haven't. The band played one verse (in which the first verse was sung) at pre-game for the longest time, and now they play both verses.

Since age 8?
That’s Khmer Rouge type of training.

The words to the Alma Mater was posted after the game, probably for the players who don't know the words.

That's the new LSU, courtesy of the naive and delusional "Delicate Genius's" in the LSU Athletic Department.....

Ironic
Graig Nettles
I have been on here a while and graduated from LSU in 1976 and 1980. Craig Nettles was my favorite Yankee. I have had to explain to a few why I have it misspelled, So here I go again. In the 70’s, I misspelled his name often and just continued the tradition. Hope that explains it. It is not ironic, it is intentional.

I don’t sing the Alma Mater because I didn’t go to school there.

Agreed, forgot to put that in my comments for the post game survey. Alma Mater I admit I have to cheat sometimes. I think I sing it 6 times a year and almost every time I've been drinking.

It’s all good amigo…though you could say it’s ironic you intentionally misspelled it…just kidding.
I’d imagine today that few on this site know his name, much less that it was misspelled, except maybe card collectors searching for that elusive 81 Fleer. FWIW - The Louisville Slugger I have in my truck happens to be a Graig Nettles model. No particular reason other than that’s what they had on the rack at k-mart in Augusta Georgia in 1983.

you should know the Star Spangled Banner... the alma mater is for alums only who should already know it

You should know the words to the Star Spangled Banner. If not, you should be ashamed.
To answer your question, looks like they found an extra 4-5 minutes where they could run more ads.

It does make it easier for everyone to sing together when the words are displayed
