You got a name? Someone more overpaid than O?

Have you seen Jimbo’s extension he got for NOT making the playoff? Have you seen them play this year? They have reason to complain. Michigan fans have had reason, even though they might finally get something done this year with OSU having a down year.

The thing is, this argument is crap anyway. Current merit doesn’t factor in as anything other than a reason to fire O. A title bump is a given and will be at a certain level, no matter what you want to believe.

Pretty ironic. Looks like the underpaid HC's is making some headway there.

As someone who was in TGBFTL and couldn’t get up and leave when UF beat our brains out 58-3 in 1993, frick you and your spoiled entitlement. Things suck right now, but the program is nowhere remotely close to those days. LSU can fire O, make a good hire, and be back in a competitive situation in the West in 2 years tops. Less in the right hands.

His contract and buyout were fine, weren’t outrageous in the least

$6mil a year…6 years…buyout only 70% of remaining contract

Nothing wrong with that contract

He won a NC and Woodward gave him a buyout worth less than 50% his total contract.

Pretty sure it’s 70% of his total contract

Regardless, none of this about money. LSU would pay if they had to, but they will negotiate him way down.

Yes it is & they won't pay a significant buyout. The entire LSU athletics coaching staff took a paycut due to the shortages of 2020. Any buyout will trigger a massive problem across the entire department.

70% of his salary but he makes 3 mill on top of his salary.

To be fair, their would-be starting QB is injured. A&M also hasn't won a national championship since the Third Reich. For better or worse, their financial commitment to Jimbo is at least understandable.

On the other hand, we have a recent history of fielding championship teams under different head coaches. We probably have more of a right to complain about our HC being overpaid for a mediocre product than any other program in the country.

Shut the frick up on that stupid shite the most idiotic post I have read here in a while.

The man gave an extension to a football coach who just got done winning a National fricking Championship. How was Woodward to know that O would go completely off the fricking deep in you dipshit

No idea, but I still wish they would let it get closer to expiring before extending. I understand it is common practice to extend a year or two prior to that, but oh well.
His original contract was going to expire 12/21. How nice would it have been to just wait. I always prefer letting contracts fully play out, but this isn't my business.

I felt like O was such a unique situation that you could afford to let it play out.

reinforced Alleva's bad hire by giving O a contract and buyout way above O's real football value.

In fact, he did the opposite.

Alleva signaled that he was a cheap bastard by losing out on Herman and Jimbo. Woodward showed the entire country that you can win a NC at LSU, and you will most certainly be rewarded for the effort!!

For all the downvotes you received , you are right on in your observation ! Granted O was due a raise and extension, but not what he was given ! Making him the 3rd or 4th highest paid coach in the nation after one successful season was not warranted. Woodward has no problem spending others money but it has and will catch up with him. It seems as though if you win a NC, people automatically think that it will continue forever and it becomes the norm to make the coach the highest paid coach without recognizing that it may be a one hit wonder. To award someone that degree a contract, you have to have a track record that merits it ! It’s absolutely amazing ! We are now all reaping the rewards of this type of thinking . When will we learn ?

He did have a choice he’s not a popular name if he won a title this year and got fired for let’s say raping a goat, no big program is going after Ed Orgeron

He hired Johnson and Mulkey; by the way, he did not hire Orgeron.
