Prosecutors in the justice department’s civil rights division are seeking criminal charges against Cassidy Hutchinson, a former top Trump White House aide who gave explosive testimony to the committee that investigated the US attack on the Capitol, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The potential charges involve lying to Congress, the person said.
Hutchinson, a former top aide to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, told the panel among other things that the deputy chief of staff for operations told her that Trump did not want to return to the White House on January 6 and at one point grabbed the wheel of his SUV to try and join supporters at the Capitol. Republicans have long disputed this account.
DoJ’s efforts to indict Hutchinson were first reported by Punchbowl News on Thursday.
“The department does not confirm or deny the existence of investigations, or the lack thereof,” a department spokesperson said in a statement.

SFP, VOR, Bunk and Powerman believe he grabbed the wheel

She openly admitted it was hearsay (and got deservedly clowned for it).
Not sure how they can get her on lying. Even if the chief of staff denied telling her anything it's he said she said.

As if any of this matters to the folks seeking the indictment.

Go after her, by all means. What a joke! Just make sure you don’t lift a finger to prosecute Clapper, Brennan, Smith, Comey, Clinton, and Wray.
Would someone still like to tell me there’s no truth to the TACO jeers from the dims?

Trump definitely grabbed the wheel from his seat. Everyone knows about Trump's 16-foot wingspan.

Why are these stories leaked BEFORE charges are brought. If true, what possibly could have been the reason for the holdup? The basic facts have been public since the first day of the new DOJ?
Awfully hard to win a prosecution with a DC jury on a she said/he said case when the win would benefit Trump.
A slam dunk case is Liz Cheney's ADMISSION of witness tampering regarding Hutchinson.
Where is THAT indictment?

If she was in a sworn testimony wouldn't any such statement be considered an 'eye-witness' level statement.
And any journalist who did not follow up to establish how she knew that detail would be lax in their duty.

Why does it matter whether he grabbed the wheel?

Her testimony was absolute garbage.
She claims to have been told by multiple sources the POTUS tried to seize the steering wheel of the Beast and force it to the Capitol.
She said Robert Engel, Trump's Secret Service detail leader, grabbed Trump's arm and told him to take his hand off the steering wheel.
She said the White House deputy chief of staff also told her, “The president reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel.”
So either she is lying, or they were.
The lying tattooed Capitol Hill cop, Fanone, should be right behind her.

Didn't Liz Cheney get caught by her attorney cohorting her to lie?
Posted on 10/8/26 at 4:16 pm to Major Dutch Schaefer
They won't be able to do a damn thing to her.

as she should be

If she is, then they will have to say that.
If she isn’t, then they will have to admit to lying to her for that to be proven.

I don’t think that’s the point. Lawyers cost money. Bleed the bitch dry

The scenario you describe there is of the exact same nature as that which Trump railed against during his last campaign - lawfare with no genuine basis on which to achieve a conviction (due to an array of possible circumstances) but rather to merely bleed the person financially. I can’t bring myself to come down on him for “walking the walk” in a situation as such.
