I just don't think he's as good as you guys think. I'm not saying he's a bad receiver, he's just not some dynamic playmaker.

Come back to the OFF/system you know with a returning, experienced QB.
Nuss is always looking downfield, vice looking to run. He wants to zip it somewhere for a gain. Seems like a win-win for both CJ and Pimpton to get the ball, and then do something with it.

He was definitely an important player for us this year with how he helped other receivers get open and his willingness to block downfield, but he's not as talented as AA, Hilton, Barion Brown, or Nic Anderson. Kyle Parker is a younger version of CJ in my opinion. He showed a lot of those same qualities before getting injured. We don't need to pay CJ top dollar for his 1 remaining year of eligibility.

It would cost $$, rather spend that money on better guys who scored more than 0 TDs last year

He's really not that great... we ran an air raid offense with a day 1 or 2 NFL draft pick at QB and he had like 400 yards and 0 TDs. I know he was out a game or so, but still. His biggest problem is he can't separate and has no burst. I think we can add better guys from the portal.

He's a good receiver and we should all want him back. But he probably knows he can put up better stats and improve his draft stock somewhere else.

We can get better receivers in the portal than CJ

I'm not sure about that. BK spoke very highly of him last week before he got in the portal. Daniels played hurt a lot this past season. I'd like to see him back.

when healthy he was the best we had. Can possess, can go over middle. Our offense was worse without him. I would love to see him back

If he thinks he’s a future NFL player, he’ll make his money being drafted. Go be great with arguably the best passer in college next season and improve your draft stock. You could make millions.

Or go take $100k from someone else, try to build chemistry with whoever the QB is over the summer and hope for the best.

Unless he’s trying to follow Kaidon Salter & get paid his $100k at the same time, then I don’t blame him best of luck and thank you for being a Tiger

It was discussed on one of the ESPN radio shows that CJ has a congenital heel issue that he also dealt with at Liberty. Don't know if that is still affecting him but LSU staff may be aware of it and it may be the reason they don't offer him as much as he might want. There are a lot of CJ Daniels type WR out there.

I think he is a high floor / low ceiling type player that is great to have but not worth having to overpay to keep. If he is looking for a big offer then he is very easily replaced.

Daniels was probably a 250-300K portal guy last season, it may be that LSU is not willing to pay him that much again for next year, and he is hoping to not take a pay cut.

You can say he is not a dynamic playmaker, but what I can tell you is that if I had to pick any player on the team that absolutely had to make a catch I would choose him. Even over Taylor.

He dropped maybe one ball all year. He had an injury and still was solid for us when he returned not fully healthy.

He was an outstanding blocker, and no one ever had any gripes about him. I don’t remember him having any penalties either. He is a locker room fit and I think he deserves to get a little more nil vs someone unproven in our system.

Anderson made a huge jump from the previous year and I think CJ would only be better for us next year.

Count me in the boat for rewarding players that have produced vs mercenaries transferring in w minimal production.

He will score tds for us next year. That said, if we had a injury free Hilton (1% chance), AA and Parker we should be solid while also including Green.

But I would like CJ as he is probably more polished than Parker and extremely reliable in all phases over the others.

Comments like this are exactly why these players move on and don’t look back. NO need to bash a great player. However, he should come back. Tigers would have legitimate top-tier QB + receiving core. Would set them up for a nice run to potential playoffs.

He’s not, but he is a complete WR, and that is worth something. In case you weren’t aware, he lead the WRs in snap counts by far before he was injured. He was well ahead of even Lacy. That’s because of his run blocking and that he doesn’t make mistakes. He’s also one of our few physical WRs and can make difficult catches in traffic. Kelly also mentioned that they would move him around to different spots because he knew all of the routes and was versatile.

So while Daniels isn’t that dynamic deep threat, he’s a guy you want out there WITH that guy because of all the other things he can do for you. Whether that’s Hilton, someone from the portal, or a younger player, Daniels and Anderson complement them very well.

Something to keep in mind though- Kyle Parker could be a younger, less expensive player who duplicates some of these same skills. He popped as a freshman for a reason. He’s really solid, a great route runner with good hands, and could probably fill that role for us if Daniels does move on.
