I don't think so.

Everyone is trying to tell you that, just because Alleva COULD suspend with some justification, doesn’t mean he SHOULD. In fact, with all things and circumstances considered, it was the wrong choice.
First I want to thank you for your civil and concise response.
But I get that, they see Alleva calling Wade up before the NCAA as selling him out. I don't. If wade had showed up to the meeting and just said, "I'm in compliance, I can't talk about details." Alleva could've turned to the NCAA and said, "See? He didn't do anything." and adjourned the meeting. Wade didn't give him that chance.
Here's where I think there's more disagreement, I believe that Alleva suspended Wade simply to show the NCAA that he's in control. Most fans seem to think this went too far, and loyalty, and winning coach, and blah, blah...
Could Alleva have shown the NCAA that LSU was in control some other way? Maybe. Was it a hasty over-reaction? Maybe.
But the REAL over-reaction to me is coming from the fans. Nothing has actually happened yet. Wade is still employed by LSU, there is no NCAA investigation. LSU was in the Sweet 16, and won the SEC.
Let me make one thing clear, I'm not throwing Will Wade under the bus - but neither am I throwing Joe Alleva under the bus. I'm going to wait and see what happens before I decide who to throw under the bus.

BS. If the FBI were involved in this equation, I would definitely protect myself first, by getting a lawyer (which I would acquire at whichever point I’m implicated, innocent or not), then I’d follow my attourney’s reccommendations.

and this is why, sometimes, we can have nice things

Yes.
I have met with the FBI before. They're not mind-readers.
But then I wasn't under oath. I would probably bring in counsel if I were actually being deposed. I don't think Wade was being deposed.
You are always under oath with the FBI. Or have you not read anything about Michael Flynn or Martha Stewart

Yeah but the NCAA is not your boss. It is the equivalent of regulating body in that it can make rulings that cost Wade his job and future employment.
So, without those in your hypothetical, it is not an apples to apples comparison.
ETA: The FBI and DOJ are involved in this and he is under a subpoena to testify in a criminal trial. At least until the Judge grants the US Attorney's Motion in Limine.

ETA People really need to top equating this meeting request with a run of the mill meeting request with a run of the mill employee.
Yea who would do that
quote:
was an Executive Director of HR for a Fortune 500 company and if an employee was due to testify in a federal case concerning the info we were scheduled to meet to discuss, I would immediately involve our legal team to determine if it was in our best interest to continue. The times I did meet with employees under subpoena for anything job related, participants in that meeting included me, our legal team, the employee, their attorney and 1 or 2 others only if there was an immediate need for their participation.
I would never include an outside, regulating agency in such a meeting or even top executives of the company unless expressly advised to do so by our outside counsel as it’s rarely a good idea to have your top officers involved in an informational meeting regarding federal cases. The last thing I would want is for those officers to be subpoenaed to also give testimony regarding what they heard in the meeting.

Some dude from New Orleans was recently on Finebaum saying his source told him Will Wade was actually working with the FBI helping them get Dawkins...

So nothing happened today? Yet another BS thread?

Fans are going to react when you intentionally send your basketball team into the NCAA Tournament without their head coach, especially when there is no NCAA investigation. Call me crazy but it is hard to call any strong reaction there an overreaction.

Well, we did look pretty listless against Michigan State. We may not have won with Wade coaching, but the game would have been a lot better.

You assume because you didn't hear about it that it didn't happen?
Believe it or not, sometimes these things are orchestrated properly (especially when you finally have an attorney involved who has dealt with these situations), so that the public only hears about it when a decision is reached.
