re: Will Ole Miss hatred for Kiffin be worse than LSU hatred for Saban when he went to Bama?

We were winning national championships multiple coaches later. That softened the blow but they’ll watch us win championships from the cellar wondering how things could have been if they weren’t so petty.

Yeah, especially if (when) we win and win bigly

Yes.
There are many LSU fans that do not hate Saban for ending up at Bama.

Y'all think they'll throw golf balls at him like Tennessee fan?

Saban at least wiped us off his dick before he stuck it in Bama.
Posted on 11/30/25 at 8:42 pm to carhartt
Yes. Saban did not bail during a playoff run.

Worse.
We never hated Saban because he left us (for the NFL) in position for our best decade and a halfof our lifetime.
Kiffen showed OM what they could be, and they know they will never be as close again...ever.

Frankly I think it doesn't say much for Kiffin's character to leave his team like this. It makes me feel dirty to have this guy as our coach.

I never hated Saban because he didn't leave us for Bama. Kiffin leaving OM for us is another level, and it will be really bad.

This is going to be worse and it wont be close

Much much more.
Arguably the worst offense you can do, take their coach from them, mid season.

You guys did what you wanted to do. You wanted Kiffin and you got him. Ole Miss fans just have to get over it. Some of my fellow ND fans were mad when you hired Kelly but some us were glad you did because he could never win the big game at ND like he couldnt at LSU and we were glad to see him go. It worked out for us getting Freeman, who feels like a better fit for ND. Ole Miss might just get a coach that fits them and continues to grow that program. But feeling should be left at the door....this is a business. If Alabama came calling and Kiffin left LSU for them....LSU fans would be pissed but have to get over just like Ole Miss fans have to get over it now.

Social media will amplify the LSU/Lane hate and that wasn’t around when Saban left for the Dolphins then landed at Bama. His next visit to Oxford will not be a pleasant one for him. Hoping Lane gives them an even bigger reason to hate him.

That's why he went there, to go through the Saban rehab program. That's why he went to FAU, to be a head coach again. Then to Ole Miss, to move up the ladder to a P4 program.
You feel dirty? We could have kept Kelly, and been 8-10 wins a year. Win the bowl and we're 8 wins again.
And Florida would be announcing Kiffin today. He wasn't going to stay at Ole Miss, he'd done what he needed to do, which is prove he can keep things together a few years.
Would you have felt dirty if we'd have pulled Kirby Smart from Georgia? I bet not, you'd be happy we got someone great.
I think Kiffin CAN have the same impact at LSU that Smart does at UGA. He couldn't do that at Ole Miss, but he can do it here.

He didn't go to Bama he went pro so I've never understood the hatred. Saben woke a sleeping giant and gave us a NC. He's the reason we've had 3 NCs since 58. He's admitted going to Miami was his biggest mistake.

Prior to today, what fanbase has hated their coach the most for leaving in SEC history?
Tennesse - Kiffin
LSU - Paul Dietzel
Oklahoma - Lincoln
That's all that pops into my mind without giving it too much thought. I'm sure there are others.
Nothing compares to what just happened to Ole Miss. The reason it is so monumentally painful is because Ole Miss knows it will probably never have it that good again, and THAT is gut-wrenching.
There is a Grand Canyon amount of space between Saban going to the Dolphins and later Alabama vs. Saban going to Alabama after an undefeated season and possible BCS appearance.
