Hold on with the stories.
My daughter went to school with them...she is hearing they were ALL asleep.
But no one truly knows until the boys say what happened.

Good point. All we know for certain is that it happened at Southside near Port Gibson and it was related to the propane tank. I know the family well as the deceased kids mother taught my child.

Terrible, just terrible. Family loses a son and brother in the worst way imaginable. Prayers to the Campbell family.

Damn, that's terrible. Prayers out to the family on this one.

Just sickened by this. Incredible parents who love and value family as true pillars of life

Most people who die in fires have succumbed to smoke inhalation long before they are burned.
And if that's the case, then the camp must have been devoid of smoke detectors, or maybe had them but they were not working properly.

I would guess that 90% of deer camps don't have detectors

It was an old camp, you’re probably right. All of the other kids are okay except the one deceased.

Jesus that's horrible. Rest in peace to his little cousin. Thank God his little brother made it out alive and that no other lives were lost but the little cousin. Our house burned down when I was 11 and it's one of the hardest things to go through without losing family, I can't imagine how the family must feel. God bless them.

For those in Monroe, they are having a prayer vigil at JGS in an hour.

That’s awful. Prayers for all involved.

Well, that is pretty silly. A good dual smoke detector/carbon monoxide detector can cost as little as $35 and I'd say the average hunting camp would be well covered with 3 of them properly mounted and maintained.
Small price to pay for peace of mind, especially if heating is done by space heaters, fireplaces and wood stoves.

Prayers for Will & family. Praying

There was not an explosion, my bad. The bottom rusted out of a wood burning stove while the kids were asleep. The survivors escaped through the window and the deceased was sleeping closest to the stove.
I believe it was an old RV they were in. Weather patterns changed and things got real windy and that rebooted the fire from the bottom up in the rusted stove. Literally just a freak thing. My brother hunts with alot of these guys Dad’s. So so sad. Monroe is a tight community, shite like this stings.
