This may be irrelevant to some of you, but what does Will Blackwell’s response to Les Miles mean to you – if anything at all? To the fans, media, and general public, Miles is wildly known as a “players coach.” Miles’ personality is viewed as the polar opposite of someone like Saban. He comes across as extremely genial. He's quirky and goofy; yet, players appeared to love him.

Well, as Blackwell’s twitter response indicated, that may not be the case. Do you think there is more behind the scenes concerning Les Miles than what we know about?

I think it says more about Will Blackwell than Les Miles.

Prob some players frustrated with his coaching. I’d guess it’s the 2011 players that prob have the most angst towards him. On the flip side, Look at all the players that came to his defense at the end of 2015.

Blackwell should have at least @ Les Miles if he is going to talk trash.

You should ask them what the team thought about Studrawa. Glad that whole staff is gone.

Miles is a case study for how a situation can become toxic when you’re stubborn and inflexible.

And toward the end, his refusals to change when everyone in the free world was saying it was needed definitely felt like a “frick them” rather than well-intentioned stubbornness.

I would imagine that the players were frustrated with the lack of change in the offense even more than the fans. They KNEW what kind of skill was on the team and had a coach they really liked but would not let them be as successful as they could have been.

I once had a manager very much like that. Super dude that inspired me to do my best and taught me a lot. BUT, he was "so nice" that he just couldn't get rid of the 'dead wood' and it hurt the business side. His bosses eventually had to fire him for underperforming.

I loved the guy but was kinda mad at him for NOT doing the "manager" task of getting rid of the lay-abouts.

No reason to post what he posted. The past is the past. No amount of finger pointing is going to change what happened.

I don’t expect any coach to ever have 100% of every single player he has ever coached to only say nice thing to/about him.

So him and Blackwell having issues probably doesn’t say anything about either of them.
They just don’t see eye to eye.
You get that many people together over that long of a run, and eventually there will be guys that don’t love each other.

Blackwell was very vocal about not running what they had worked on in all the time leading up to 1/12/09 after that debacle.

He really needs to let it go or just finally get it out and move on, but the passive aggressive behavior he is showing is immature as well.

I think there are three groups of Miles players. Seems that the 05-07 group, especially the ones that played for Nick, love him. They may admit that he wasn’t the brightest but will say that they preferred him over Nick. The 08-12 Gtoup seems to be a mix of the above and Blackwell. Seems like the ones who liked him in this group benefitted the most from some of his decisions. The 2013 through Miles last game at Auburn seems to be made up of a majority that didn’t respect him as a coach. Lots of guys doing their own thing, dictating terms, nothing about the team —-all bc they knew he wasn’t a good coach.

Put yourself in his or any other player's shoes from that 2011 team. I would harbor some animosity towards Les Miles, too. I don't get why everyone wants to demonize Will Blackwell and say he's being petty. Les Miles deserves criticism on how that season ended; he's not above that.

Blackwell seems to be an outlier regarding Miles coached players. He was absolutely frustrating with his stubbornness at times but the dude stood up for his players and loved his guys.

He’s not as much a moron as people think. Lee freshman year INTs shell shocked him I think and it was in the middle of CFB completely changing, especially SEC whereas PAC & BIG 12 had been running HUNH. It was hard for him to get away from the running, smash mouth type of offense that had been so successful for him. Had he just made the philosophy change Saban had regarding offense, things would’ve worked out better.

Geez, I wanted Les gone a few years before he actually got fired but he was a great coach that just couldn’t make that decision to like Saban, to hand over the offense.

I’m sorry. Did Miles play shitty in that game? Or did Will Blackwell? The offensive line was dominated in a way that an O line has never been dominated in a championship game in history.

Did Miles’s strategy and gameplan suck? Sure, it took a total team effort to get blasted like they did that day.
