How can the offensive line coach be held responsible for a guy having concussion problems? You do realize guys in the trenches bang heads all the time and williford was initially injured by a cheap shot. Also you are dealing with heavy guys who's weight sometimes causes their legs to break down. Not like this is unique to lsu.
Pretty sure he was being sarcastic .

Sad to hear about Josh. So unfortunate.
I think Vadal (if he's healthy) now has to move down out of necessity and Hawkins takes over at RT

not blaming anyone but was obvious as i recall that he had a head injury at florida and he went back in
Josh was blindsided after an INT at UF. He was done after that play.

Any chance he takes a medical redshirt and takes the year off?
Posted on 8/8/13 at 10:49 pm to TXGunslinger10
Absolutely not....guy already had problems last year....now with the latest injury.....no way in hell if it were me I would go back out there.
The coaches probably feel the same and don't want the kid to get seriously injured anymore than he already is.

I think he's done if it is as serious as it seems.
He basically took half of the year off after the UF game.

He only weighs 301 that's actually light for sec play IMHO.
Eric Fisher weighs 305
Luke Jockel 306
Jake Matthews 305
Hawkins weighs only 4 pounds less. Not a big deal at all.

I would be absolutely shocked. Stunned might be a better word.
This article explains how bad the concussion last year was .

“The scariest sensation was waking up the next day, knowing we had a game the day before, and not knowing what happened,” Williford said. “I didn’t know what I was doing.” He’s had people piece together the moments after his concussion. The team doctors said he was slow to respond once they reached him on the field. His mom said he kept asking after the game what was for dinner, while holding a box of Chick-fil-A. The next morning, his friend said he pronounced a sentence completely backwards. The memory loss and the constant headaches made the next few days difficult ones. He spent all his time in a dark room, resting in his bed. The sensitivity to light and noise meant no cell phone or television.

The sensitivity to light and noise meant no cell phone or television. Toughest of all, it kept him from watching his teammates. “The worst part was on Saturdays,” Williford said. “I couldn’t watch the TV because of my head. I did everything I could just to listen to it. The first Saturday after, I just had to keep asking how they’re doing. It made it easier, but I really wanted to be out there.”

Williford tried returning to the field three weeks later, before LSU’s game against Alabama. He had passed all the tests and was able to perform light workouts without getting a headache. But something was different once he really started playing. He remembers hitting former linebacker Kevin Minter. The contact wasn’t exceptionally hard, but he said it felt like his head was about to explode.

damn this sucks, guy was one of my favorite players.

If Williford can’t play, expect sophomore Vadal Alexander to take his place. Alexander started nine games in 2013 at right tackle as a true freshman after Alex Hurst left the team. Alexander has missed the last three days of practice with an unspecified injury, but LSU coach Les Miles said he expects him to be available Friday when the Tigers hold their first full team, full pad practice. Redshirt freshman Jerald Hawkins has taken over at right tackle, with sophomore Trai Turner at right guard and junior La’El Collins at left tackle.
Williford concussion may be career threatening

I don't see how he returns from this. He really did try, though. Not worth permanent head trauma.
We can't afford to lose many more players to injury if there's any hope to honestly contend. We have a good team, but experienced players are too valuable. But more importantly, I just hope his brain heals.

He needs to move forward with his life. This is only a game and not worth the risk he may be taking.
I like the kid alot and wish him only the best. He needs to take care of himself.

And that's why Les loads up with nearly a half dozen big uglies every class.
Best wishes to big Josh
